Location was located on the good location not too far from the JR station and tourist area.

About Ryokan Say-Liu (Seiryu)

Ryokan Say-Liu is a Japanese traditional style hotel, 7 min on foot from JR Takayama Sta. Located conveniently in the heart of downtown Takayama. It is close to all the major tourist attractions and historical sites. We are just 2 minute walk to the famous morning market. We promise you to offer comfort and convenience to all the tourists worldwide!

All the guest rooms are clean, cozy Japanese-style en-suite rooms.

Check-in is 3pm and check-out 10am.

Facilities include communal baths, parking, vending machine, and shop.

Guests can also avail of refrigerator in their rooms, TV, telephone, shampoo, rinse, soap, razor, bath towels, drier, as well as a safe.

Breakfast: 1050yen (order when your check-in)

Dinner: 5250yen per person (order after confirmed your booking)

We recommend that you visit the Morning Market, Hida Folk Village, Matsuri-no-Mori festival area, Hida-no-Sato (outdoor museum), Shirakawa Village (85km away and 2hrs drive), as well as Hotaka Range and Mount Norikuradake. Guests can also partake in fishing that is just 3 Km away as well as skiing, 5 Km away.

Access:

Our Ryokan is only 5 minute walk (700m) from JR Takayama Station.

From the JR Takayama Station, walk toward the center of the town on the main street (it is called Ekimae Chuo Dori). Pass 5 streets and take left at the 6th intersection from the station. You will find our Japanese-style black and white colored building on your right side.

There is a visitor center just by Takayama station. You may obtain a map to our hotel there.

This was the first time we had stayed in a ryokan and it was a lovely introduction to that style of accommodation. Excellent staff, very good facilities, within easy walking distance of the older part of town for tourist exploration and, we thought, good value for money. Breakfast although a "western" for us was served at a low table in a very gracious, tatami matted room. There was also parking which was an unexpected bonus. Nearby there is a small tempura restaurant - Konzou Tsukagoshi which we also highly recommend. Overall, a very good experience.

This is not a place I will call enjoyable, room was lousy the only windows looks on to a wall in a narrow alley, which means no natural light. Mentioned that we will arrived at 10.00am but no way to get the room before 3.00pm and not a point you can argued with the staff stiff like my neck ... Too expensive for what you get...
You pay and you shut up !!
