I can't imagine many people actually wanting to stay in Tarumi in the first place as there aren't exactly many attractions there, but it is only 20 minutes by train from Kobe and was the cheapest accommodation in the area so with being on a budget we decided to stay there.
The hostel is about 10-15 minutes walk from the station, easy enough to find as you can get a map from the station office, and it`s situated on the main road in Tarumi.... more

About Kobe Guesthouse
Kobe guesthouse is located near the longest suspension bridge in the world named 'Akashi Kaikyo Oohashi'. You can enjoy the nice view from here and see the illuminated bridge at night-time.
In summer time, the beach near the bridge opens.
'Azur Maiko' beach is the nice place for swimming and you can go there in 3-5 minutes walk.
Just in the backyard of the guesthouse, there is the biggest outlet-mall in Western Japan. You can walk there in 3 minutes and enjoy shopping in inexpensive price.
You can go to Osaka & Himeji about in 40 minutes by the train. It is also convenient to go to Awaji Island via the bridge.
As for the payment, we accept only by cash not by card.
Our check-in time is from 17:00 to 21:00.
If you arrive here after 21:00 without tellephone call,
we can not accept you since we close the outside door.
After checking in, we have no curfew.
We look forward to welcoming you to Kobe!

The hostel is about 10-15 minutes walk from the station, easy enough to find as you can get a map from the station office, and it`s situated on the main road in Tarumi.
The room we booked which was a double probably was the smallest room I have ever stayed in, there were four and a half tatami mats and a small area at the front of the room with a sink and wardrobe. The double bed or futon I was expecting was in fact a bunkbed, which was extremely difficult to get in and out of because the bunk had no legs. Furthermore, the matress and the pillows were rock hard and the sheets were about 20 years old.
The shower facilties were okay, but there was only hot water from available until 9am in the morning and electricity went off after 10pm, lighting was available but we couldn't watch TV or charge our phone until the morning.
One plus point was the owner spoke a good level of English which is certainly a rarity in Japan, but overall though a very disappointing stay, and I would certainly recommend to those who are on a real budget to stay there.

Get off at west exit of JR Tarumi station.
Please go to the station office and request the route map to Kobe guesthouse.
Then walk 60m to the south and cross the route No.2 in the signal.
Walk 600m to the west along the route No.2.
Then you will see the signboard of our Guesthouse(4 stories building).
