We (2) spent two very nice days in Matsuyama thanks to this all-round youthhostel. It is homely, clean, quiet and in a perfect location for all those interested in the Dogo Onsen area. (Although situated up on a hill and a little bit difficult to find without a map -> check it on google maps and you'll have no problem).
I'd also recommend it for larger groups of travellers. There's loads of information on tourist attractions on Shikok, the staff can handle English to a certain extent and are very willing to help. (With all the foreigners at the hostel you always have someone to ask though anyway.)
Toothbrush, Showergel, Towels etc. all supplied for, other things like for example washing machines or a yukata to go to the onsen are available at low cost. The only things that might be troublesome for one or the other guest are a 12PM curfew and closing hours from from 10AM to 4PM during which one is asked to get outside unless feeling ill. We did not try the breakfast.Best wishes, Daniel

perfectly located; you can go to the dogo onsen by foot... the hostel is ok, the amenities are good but the bed are too hard to sleep...
