The top rating is given based on the price of the accommodation in comparison of the other hotel in this area. Kawaguchi-ko Station Inn offers a very basic facilities, a friendly host, clean & a perfect location in front of the train station.
It has an Onsen on the top floor ( 4th. level ) with a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji.
The Inn only accepts cash payment. We stayed 2 nights in this Inn from 18th. - 20th. October 2009.

Facilities were extremely comfortable and modern. Only slight gripe would perhaps be the prices at the attached restaurant~quite steep for basic fare! Recommended hostel.

Loved it! Very friendly, authentic feel, bang next to the railway station-hot spring on the top floor

Our stay at the Kawaguchi-Ko Station Inn was fantastic. I have no criticism what so ever. The Manager was very accomodating, we dropped in the day before our booking and told him of our quest to climb Mt Fuji that evening. The Manager immediately offered to hold our bagage and told us our room would be ready for early checkin when we got back down the following morning so we could shower and rest, he also talked to us about our plans and when we discussed staying in a hut at the 8th station to rest he phoned on our behalf to see if there was a vacancy and made a booking for us. We were also allowed to use the free internet service he provides to his guests. You don't always get this much help before you book in and pay I can tell you.
The establishment is extremely well kept and clean. The facilities are very good, private showers if you are uncomfortable using same sex communal showers. Washing machine and clothes dryer available and as I said free internet (the only one in any of our accommodation in Japan). Free tea and coffee making facilities. Lots of information available and the manager speaks very good english so communication is very easy. There is a restaurant attached where you can eat which is very reasonable, western breakfast which was the fatest piece of toast I have ever seen...only 500yen.
During our time there I was unable to get a good shot of Fuji and asked the Manager if he would email the photo that was the screensaver on one of the computers....the email was sent before we got back to Tokyo.
I hightly recommend this Inn to any traveller looking for comfortable, clean and low cost accommodation.

Probably one of the best locations in Kawaguchiko. Literally across the street from the train station. Minus 1 star because they are at an intersection that plays *crossing music* pretty much all day. 2min walk to 7-11, 10min walk to the gondola to view Mount Fuji.
Furuoka-san is the manager. He speaks english rather well, knows the area, is very kind and helpful, and has a discount coupon for just about everything in the area. The rest of the staff are kind, friendly, and speak some english too.
Rooms are average size for a japanese inn. The dorm beds are cheap, and very comfortable. The pillows are very small and hard though, so be warned.
Free internet, free coffee and tea, and some good places to eat nearby (average prices for japanese restaurants).
On the 4th floor is a jacuzzi (onsen) where you can enjoy a soak and view of Mount Fuji. Very relaxing!
Overall, a great place to say. I highly recommend it to anyone.

We spent a quiet new years celebrating in the down stairs living area and then arose to watch the sunrise from the onsen on the top floor looking out over Mt Fuji. It was fabulous. The owners were very helpful and overall it was a great place to stay. Very handy location right opposite the train station too.
