Excellent 90%

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

I wanted to take my time to see the World Heritage site in Nikko and not try to do it in one day from Tokyo (you could do it in a day, though). The Viva Nikko was an excellent choice for what I was looking for. It was easy to find from the train station and when combined with my Tobu Line World Heritage Pass which entitled me to ride the bus to the shrine and temple area, there was very little energy wasted in getting to and from the site. I did walk back once so I could see the Shinkyo Bridge.

The room was nice, not overly large, but comparable to what I had stayed at in Europe. The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful, even with my limited knowledge of Japanese. I would stay here again and would recommend it.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Very convenient location across from the train station. Traditional Japanese rooms with tatami but beds rather than futon and ensuite bath. Comfortable and clean. Nice quiche for breakfast. Staff didn't seem to speak much English but are obviously accustomed to foreigners so all interactions were easy.
