This is a Trusted Review. Why?
The hotel is situated close to the main highway so traffic noise is a problem.
One is restricted to meals in house as there are no restaurants or bars nearby. However if travelling with your own transport it is ideally sited for access to the rift valley and norhern game parks. Trevor, the owner organises tailor made safaris to suite your needs.Security at the hotel could be a problem area.Nice garden for relaxing in.Taxi into Nairobi town would cost about 2000ksh one way.

This new building in a traditional style sits in a semi rural setting offering bright spacious en-suite rooms, each furnished in its individual style with easy chairs or sofa and coffee table. There are also interconnecting doors for families or groups.
These east facing rooms benefit from the beautiful equatorial sunrise and breakfast is served either in the restaurant with its east facing French doors or on the patio. The front timber deck being perfect in the afternoons for sunning and taking a cool drink watching the sunset, free tea and coffee are available all day to guests.
The well stocked garden is fine for a quiet read, sunbathing or watching the many visiting birds. There is also a TV Lounge and the restaurant serves Western and local dishes as well as catering for vegetarians or other special tastes food being an important part of a comfortable visit.
We specialise in Safari's to Mount Kenya Region, Masai Mara, Tsavo, Great Rift Valley and Greater Nairobi Tours.

If you want to avoid the real Kenya and stay in a coldly efficient Western-style hotel, this may not be for you. The hotel is in a poorer neighborhood, but the service is superb and personal and you will have a great time. The hotel is clean, comfortable and extremely well run. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and extremely professional, but the atmosphere is more like visiting family and friends than a hotel. If you ask, you can do all the tourist things like safaris and tours and they will provide excellent local guides. For the modest prices, this is excellent value for money and I would definitely go there again.

Charity and Trevor open their home to their guests providing a very warm, friendly and hospitable welcome. Kikuyu Lodge became our home whilst we were travelling in Kenya and Tanzania and it was always good to return there after several days away. It was relaxing and comfortable; the cooking was excellent, especially the African food, and our individual needs and requirements were catered for, including local transport and sightseeing. We would certainly return to Kikuyu Lodge and recommend it to friends.
