I have travelled a lot around the world, never have I encountered an establishment with such warmth and which gives one a place of belonging sometimes better than one's own homeground. The service by the hosts was absolutely excellent and it far surpassed my expectations! I now call the Great Wall Courtyard Hostel in Badaling my second home!!! Regards, Bridgette Gasa, South Africa

We were generally very pleased with our stay at the SIHE hotel. Our room was lovely and had all the facilities we required. The light above the wash hand basin only worked intermittenly so shaving was a bit of a hit and miss affair. The staff although very friendly were sometimes struggling to understand my requests and they were unable to re-confirm my flight departure from the hotel either by phone or email.. I do think the website needs updating as there are inaccuracies in the text, the most glaring when it says the hotel offers free transport to the airport. Apparently this ceased in 2009. There was also the offer of free fruit each day.....This did not materialise nor did the entertainment.... Maybe this was rather lost in translation? However I would not hesitate in recommending this quaint hotel , such a refreshing change to the large impersonal edifices offered. Peter & Josette Fancourt Jersey, Channel Islands, UK
