It is not allowed to put up new constructions here. The restored old mansions and churches are used as museums, concert halls and other cultural institutes. It takes you only 4 minutes by walking from the metro station Kitai Gorod, a 10 minutes walk to the Red Square, a stone's throw to many sights of the city.
