Huanchaco Mc Callum
Los Ficus # 460-305
Mc Callum is a modern yet familiar traditional, offering cheap accommodation in the centre of Huanchaco. We have dormitory rooms, double and single rooms, laundry service, free wi-fi, gas and hot water in all rooms, a beautiful outdoor communal area with hammocks, surf gear for rent and a well equipped guest kitchen. The hostel is perfectly located in a quiet area 3 minutes’ walk from the beach.
Perfectly situated right next to the action, but not in the middle of it – so you can relax in peace when you want to – we have created a little piece of paradise for our guests.
A beautiful sun filled outdoor area with hammocks, and all the facilities you would want, as well as modern clean rooms.
Patricia and its family have for years been the favourite base for many volunteers from all over the world. The only problem you will encounter here is not wanting to leave!
Mc Callum has private rooms and dorms all with en-suite bathrooms and 24hrs hot showers. Bed sheets and linen are provided. All rooms overlook a lovely patio with hammocks and surf boards.
Huanchaco is located on Peru’s northern coast, an overnight bus ride from Lima, 30 minutes from Trujillo. Flights from Lima go to Trujillo airport, which is a 10 minute taxi ride from Huanchaco. Buses from Lima arrive near the centre of Trujillo.
How to get to Mc Callum:
From Trujillo to Huanchaco, you can either take any of the Huanchaco buses (red and yellow in colour) which take 30 minutes and cost 1.50 soles, or a taxi, which should not be more than 15 soles.
As you arrive in Huanchaco you will see a large Mirador on the beach. The road that runs inland from the Mirador is Los Pinos – the main street. One street before Los Pinos is Los Ficus – you will see a large yellow building and a bakery on the corner. We are located 150 meters up Ficus on the left hand side, past Las Gardenias Street.
Our hostel is a three storey white building with a brown front gate. There is a large brown McCallum sign out the front, so you shouldn’t miss us!
NOTE: Take care when using a taxi: many taxi drivers only like taking passengers to hostels where they receive a commission, so make sure they take you to the right place!
