Übernachten und Frühstück- nur 16,50 Euro pro Nacht! Die Jugendherberge “the Shelter Jordan” liegt im westen Teil des Stadtzentrums, genau in der Mitte von der ruhigen und wunderschönen Gegend- “de Jordaan” Es handelt sich um eine der hübschsten Gegende Amsterdams- mit engen Strassen und Gassen, Kanalen und wunderbaren Häusern aus dem 17. Jahrhundert.
Es könnte kaum einfacher sein, die Herberge zu finden. Sie liegt etwa 8 Minuten mit der Strassenbahn vom Hauptbahnhof (Centraal Station) entfernt, keine 300 meter vom Anne-Frankhaus, und von der Herberge kann man ohne Mühe, den Damplatz (der als unoffizielle Stadtmitte gilt), den Leidseplein (der lustigste Platz der Stadt), und fast alle Amsterdammer Sehenswürdigkeiten zu Fuss erreichen. Es gibt nicht nur eine Strassenbahnhaltestelle, sondern auch ein Busterminal an der Ecke- und jede Gegend der Stadt, wie jede Ecke des ganzen Landes ist mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln schnell erreichbar. Wir haben 104 Plätze in sauberen, bequemen Schlafsälen, getrennt, für Männern und Frauen. Jeder Raum wird noch geteilt, d.h. es gibt höchstens 8 Bette zusammen.
Unsere Herberge ist nicht nur angenehm, sondern auch preiswert, und wir sind berühmt für unseres ausgezeichnete warme Frühstück. Mit einer gemütlichen, freundlichen Stimmung, die Herberge ist ein idealer Treffpunkt für Touristen, und Backpacker aus allen Landen, besonders für diejenigen, die versuchen immer preiswerter zu reisen. Alle unsere Mitarbeiter sprechen Englisch, und wir haben normalerweise auch Deutschsprachige unter der Team, und es ist immer uns ein Vergnügen Sie zu dienen! Ein Schliessfach, Bettlaken und Decken, und warme Duschen stehen euch auch zur Verfügung, und zwar für €16,50 pro Nacht- Sie finden sicher nichts Besseres in Amsterdam!
Die wichtigsten Details über die Herberge sind hier zu finden.
1. Getrennte Schlafräume
Wir stellen saubere, angenehme, getrennte Schlafsäle für Männer (im 2en Stock) und Frauen (im 1en Stock) zu Ihrer Verfügung. Wir haben weder einzel-, noch doppelzimmer.
2. Spenstunde
The Shelter Jordan macht um 2 Uhr morgens zu. Späterer Eintritt ist unmöglich.
3. Keine Drogen, kein Alkohol, begrenzte Rauchermöglichkeiten
Alkohol und Drogen werden in der Herberge nicht erlaubt. Das Rauchen von normalen Zigarretten ist möglich nur im Garten, wo eine Ecke unter Dach steht im Fall Regens. Marijuana und andere Drogen sind in, und in der Nähe von, der Herberge streng verboten.
4. Altersgrenze
Gäste zwischen 15 und 35 Jahre alt sind willkommen
5. Mehr als 6 Leute?
Um Platz zu reservieren für 7 Leute (bzw mehr) müssen Sie eine Gruppenreservierung machen.
6. Länger als 7 nächte?
Durch diesen Website ist es möglich, eine Reservierung für eine bis sieben Nächte zu machen. Wenn Sie länger bleiben wollen, schlagen wir vor, zuerst die 7 Nächte zu reservieren, und dann den Aufenthalt zu verlängern, als Sie ankommen. Es ist normalerweise möglich bis ein Monat zu bleiben, wenn wir noch Platz frei haben.
7. Schlafsaalgrösse
Als Sie reservieren, wählen Sie einen Platz in einem 18-Personensaal. Soll dieser Raum voll sein, werden Sie entweder in einem grösseren, oder in einem kleineren Raum schlafen. Es gibt keinen Preisunterschied zwischen den Räumen.
8. Reservierungsmöglichkeiten
Plätze sind normalerweise reservierbar 3 Monate vor dem Ankunftdatum.
9. Zahlung
Es wird beim Ankunft bezahlt, in Euro, ausländischer Währung, Traveller’s Cheque, oder mit Visa/Mastercard.. Wir empfehlen Zahlung beim Ankunft für alle Nächte, die Sie reserviert haben. Danach ist es möglich den Aufenhalt zu verlängern, nur wenn es noch Platz gibt.
10. Annulierung
Sollen wir 24 Stunden vor dem Ankunftdatum keine Schriftliche Annulierung bekommen haben, und jemand, der mit Kreditkarte gebucht hat, nicht angekommen ist, oder sich entscheidet, wo anders zu übernachten, wird automatisch eine Nacht pro Person bezahlt.
Soll das vorkommen, sehen Sie den Name „Tot Heil Des Volks“ auf Ihrer Rechnung, das ist der Name der Organisation, die um unsere Finanzen kümmert. Merken Sie bitte telefonische Annulierungen sein UNMÖGLICH.

Cancellation policy:
Cancellations (of part or of the whole booking) must be made online/by phone/email before midnight two days prior to arrival date. If any guests fail to do so or do not show up, one night’s stay is charged on their credit card. The same rule applies when an arrival date is changed online, by email or phone.
If this is the case you will notice on your credit card statement the following name: 'Tot Heil des Volks', which is the assocation that will charge your account on our behalf.
If you contact us to cancel your booking you must give your booking number (starting 643- ) and arrival date.
Example: you should arrive on Wednesday. To avoid being charged you need to cancel before midnight on Monday. Cancellations on Tuesday are too late and you will be charged for the first night.
Multiple booking policy:If the same name, e-mail or credit card is used in multiple bookings for a total of more than 8 people on the same day then we will apply our group payment and cancellation conditions to be found on www.shelter.nl
Bookings of up to 20 people are accepted via this site, for more people please e-mail group@shelter.nl
We reserve the right to cancel online groups of more than 20 people.
If the group booking is just for one night and is on a Friday, Saturday or one of the following dates around public holidays, then an extra charge of 5 euros will be made per bed booked: 21/24 April, 1 May, 1/2/9/12 June, 28/29 December 2011.

Very friendly welcome. Great location in the centre of Amsterdam. It may look a bit expensive but great breakfast is included. A few computers with veeeeerrrrrryyyyyy slow internet connection. It is a Christian hostel, but not in-your-face Christian: there are bible readings and prayers for those who seek it, but if you don't: you're just as welcome.

this is avery nice and clean hostel. but it might be a little bit too expensive. but if you book in time you can get it cheaper! overall a very good hostel with kind personal staff.

Hotel Jordan is an easy to reach location about 15 minutes walk from the Dam Square walking in almost a direct line, and is only a few minutes with the tram.
The facilities are kept clean, and there is a large bathroom on each floor. There is excellent facilities to keep your belongings safe, a personal locker, and a room next to the reception where larger belongings can be stored. Despite this, there seems to be a relaxed atmosphere between workers and guests, and not too much concern about theft, although precautions are taken.
The Cafe is both a dining room and a lounge, drinks being sold through the evening and also small snacks for a reasonable price. The volunteers at the hostel live on site and spend time in this cafe too both working and just spending the evening. As such, this hostel is a nice place to spend some time awake at, and not just sleeping after a day of exploring the city.
I would recommend this hostel, and will be sure to return there in the future.

The hostel is well located and that was my main reason for chosing it - The room was clean and the bed OK - washroom and toilet were good too - I had the cold breakfast which was a bit disappointing - the one with pancakes looked more substantial
My critisism concerns the staff - as the hostal has a no smoking and drinking policy - on the night I stayed I returned to my room in the evening to find the room full of dope smoke and a semi conscious room mate on his bed next to a half emptied bottle of red wine - and a whole stash of unsmoked weed - it was virtually impossible to breath - and an other younger room mate was looking very sheepish - On reporting all of this to the reception staff - someone came up to the room, removed the offending articles but made no offer to move any of the other residents into another room - consequently we had to spend a freezing cold night with the windows wide open
The next day after checking out - I returned to the hostel to pick up my bag which I had left in the [so called] secure baggage room - my co resident found that his bag had been moved and his laptop had been stolen - despite the fact that the reception desk is right opposite - when I asked if I could go into the cafe area to exchange addresses I was told that this was not allowed since I had already checked out - my friend was upset about the theft and was shown very little sympathy - and directed in the direction of the nearest police station - since my train journey was 2hours later I was literally walking around in the rain for the next 2hoursby all means stay at this hostel for it's location and cleanliness - if you are a Christian even better - but in my opinion don't expect to find much Christian spirit
Its a very nice hostels, clean and with great facilties... but be aware of the fact that it is a christian hostel... so is verey different from the city enviroment. I admit it was quite strange to be in a hostel like jordan in amesterdam.
if you are looking for a quiet( girls one floor, boys in another) , clean and nice hostel, jordan is the place.
