Fantastic place to stay. A 20 minute walk from town but across the road from a beautiful beach. Very peaceful and the owners are very helpful for arranging tours. I would highly recommend anyway to stay at this pousada and especially to visit Paraty - by far my favourite place in Brazil!

This is a CHILL OUT place , Book swap and CURRYS ? Now with Swimming pool , and best of all we serve authentic home cooked Indian currys too , We are a mile from the centre of the old town , we are not a loud party hostel here you will be surounded by birdsong and fishermen rather than raves and ravers . There is WIFI and internet , Owned and run by English Simon and his Brasilian wife Helena, This is not your usual hostel we built this as a hotel with all the comforts it is a great place for couples or friends as all our rooms are private we do not mix guests so you will have your own space , all rooms are en suite ( private bathroom and shower ) , glass showers with hot and cold water , Air Con , Fridge ,T V , Fan , a great place to relax and unwind with fantastic views people often come for a day or two and spend a week or two . Located on the beautiful beach of Jabaquara in Paraty. We have apartments with sea and island views. We are here to help you make the most of your time here in Paraty. There is a pool, and a garden. All apartments have their own television, air conditioning, fridge and our breakfasts are legendary!
Our local knowledge is invaluable we can help organize and book boat trips to the islands, and trips to the waterfalls. We also organize kayak trips, scuba, snorkeling and last but not least a visit to the Cachaça distillery. It is also possible to rent bikes.
We can organize all your washing and dry cleaning and we will have it picked up and delivered the same day. all beds are doubles or bunk beds ' minimum price per room around 30 dollars ( for 1 person )

On our first trip to Brasil, our stay at this Pousada in Parity was definitely the highlight. We extended our stay once we arrived and had a wonderful time there thanks to super hosts Simon and Helena.
Only (very small) improvements to consider :
1. Not sure if TV's in rooms are necessary (for marketing) but if so, then reception should be improved - otherwise it would be OK to just use the living room TV which has very good, clear reception of many stations.
2. Upstairs room is great ! However, could be improved with reading lights at the bed area.
3. Hot water in the handbasin would be nice (especially for those men who shave with a razor)We will definitely be referring this venue to friends who may visit the area.

Stayed 3 nights just before Carnival. We had the upstairs room with a great view across the bay and thought the rate was good value. Other rooms are even cheaper and looked good but without the balcony view.
The Pousada is away from the main centre of Parati at Jabaquara bay which makes it very quiet and peaceful. The walk into town is very pleasant and takes about 30 minutes. Lifts into town can also be arranged at a reasonable rate if you dont fancy the walk. There is a beach and an excellent beach restaurant (La Luna) within 5 minutes of the Pousada.
Simon is English and has lived sometime in Portugal and Brasil . His wife also speaks good English. Both are extremely friendly, obliging and like a good chat. As this was our first stay in Brasil before moving onto Rio the insights and advice they were able to give proved invaluable later on in the trip. As the weather was not too good they were able to book an excellent jeep trip and tickets for the puppet museum for us. The latter (puppets) is bizarre and a little expensive - I will say no more ! ! Boat trips could also have been arranged if we had so wished through mein hosts.
Being English the breakfast included the only decent cup of Tea we had throughout our stay in Brazil. Toast was also very welcome.
We would recommend this Pousada to any of our friends - Dave and Shelagh
