Reception is open between 8:00 and 23.00. Check in is from 14:00 and MUST be before 23:00. Check out is 10:00 am.If you do arrive after 23:00hrs there is an out of hours contact number on the main reception door to call.
Your use of this website is subject to your irrevocable acceptance without modification of these terms of use (the 'Terms') and you agree to use this website in accordance with and subject to these Terms. 1.You may cancel your booking up to 72hrs hours before arrival.(Does not apply to Groups) Please do so directly with the reception office at the Cowgate. If you wish to cancel by email then please do so at least 7 full days prior to your arrival.
2.All group bookings must be paid in full 28 days prior to arrival, any changes or cancellations must be done before this time.Payment will automatically taken from your credit card.
3.Deposits are never refunded.
4.In the event of a no-show without cancellation, we have the right to charge your credit card for the first night's stay where you have booked accommodation with us or for the full price of the tour or other non-accommodation travel service in accordance with your booking conditions.
5.Your contract is with Hostel Accommodation Limited. It is our responsibility to provide you with the travel services.
6.In the highly unlikely event of a problem arising, our liability to you, if any, is limited to the deposit and that reservation fee you paid.

We enjoyed our stay a lot. And the price per night is really cheap.

Noisy all the night( There's a Bar on the opposite side of the street, and there were many cars spuring in the street too).
The hostel is old and dark,with a very soft mat which is almost worn out.
The sheet is worn out.
Try find another hotel not in the city center, but cleaner and tidier.

In a word: horrible.
We arrived there and they told us that the room wasn't ready because it was dirty.(it was 14:00) They advised us to go for a walk and we went. We came back at 15:30 and they told us that it was still dirty. We went again for a walk and we arrived at 17:30 but the room was still dirty. However, we wanted to leave our backpacks in a safe place and at least to change our clothes. there was no problem they gave us the key and we went into our shared flat.The room wasn't bad the toilet more or less but when we saw the kitchen...that was the nastiest thing I have ever seen and smelled. we decided to shut the door and to forget that room. When we came back at night we had a look at the kitchen the smell was still there and it was evident that there was a quick cleanliness. The next morning we couldn't get our deposit because our bus was early in the morning and the reception wasn't open till 8. I sent them a message complaining about this and asking for my deposit: 10 Pounds, it wasn't much but taking into account the whole situation I though it was no fair! I haven't had any answer. Maybe we had bad luck (I don't thing so) but I wouldn't come back again. If I were you I would go to Budget Backpackers it has nothing to do with cowgate.
