This is an all around excellent hostel. I stayed in the 4-bed mixed dorm and while they don't have a lift and I was at level 5 (that's a lot of stairs!) the experience was great! We had a balcony off our room and there's fresh towel, toilet paper, cute little soap and shampoo provided in our lockers. The food in this place is great too and lots of options - I've grown addicted to their fruit shakes and thai food! And the location is very close to major MRT/train station so easy to get anywhere. They also have internet in the lobby, WiFi and service is excellent.
The only thing to be aware of is that when I was staying, there was roadwork right in front of the property so it is quite noisy if your room is facing the street (like mine).

I stayed in one of the private rooms which was good value for the price. Staff were friendly and helpfull, nice cafe downstairs. Would definately stay there again.

Yes!! I loved my stay at @Hua Lamphong hostel! It is probably the best hostel I have stayed at, and I have travelled around a fair bit! I had heard about dodgy accomodation in Bangkok, so I wasn't sure what to expect before I came. I stayed in a mixed dorm room and was impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities; cleaning staff change the bed sheets and leave you fresh towels every day, and when you arrive, there is soap and shampoo left in your individual locker.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, making me feel very at ease as a single female travelling for the first time in Thailand. There is a restaurant downstairs with tasty- but cheap- food for breakfast or dinner, and the portions are good. I looked forward to my croisants and eggs for breakfast (set number 5!) and a Pad Thai in the evening!
I chose this hostel because it has good transport links- the number 53 bus goes to many places including the Grand Palace; the subway is just outside, and the main train station is opposite the road. You can't go wrong!
On top of that, they have free wireless for the flashpackers amongst us, and also cheap internet terminals to use.
Thank you to all at @Hua Lamphong! I hope to return again!
(oh and by the way, the decor in the hall is gorgeous!)

Every thing was great food room staff could not find fault in any thing, THE BEST, WILL GO BACK. Have just stayed here for the fourth time only gets better still the best place I have stayed highly recommend but you can get cheaper but not better than this for price. Public transport right out side door busses taxi subway and main line trains, will take you to most places in Bangkok and Thailand.do your self a favour and stay @Hua Lamphong.

Stayed here for three days in March 2010, hard to fault , staff are very friendly and helpfull, rooms very clean and modern, they've gone for a boutique- style, good value and good location with the metro right outside the door and main rail station opposite.
