Welcome to Mt. H'Kusam View Lodge in beautiful Sayward, B.C.! We are an affordable getaway retreat combining the international flavour of a hostel with the warmth and coziness of a family-run wilderness lodge.

Come and enjoy our beautiful location, with the forest, waterfall, the Salmon River, Mt. H'Kusam and the ocean close by. Enjoy the many outdoor activities available in the area, or just relax in the comfort and peace of our wilderness retreat.

Your hosts, Jill Tyndale and Chris Watkiss, recently retired from running their famous organic goat dairy and cheese company in Abbotsford, B.C. We fell in love with this beautiful part of the world, and decided to make it our home. At the dairy, we were hosts to many Canadian and international volunteers and interns through the WWOOF program. We decided to start a hostel here in Sayward as our retirement project, so that we could continue to enjoy hosting travellers from all over the world.

The lodge is located near the village of Sayward on northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, between the ferry terminals of Nanaimo and Port Hardy.

To reach us by road:

- Take highway 19 to Sayward Junction (about 75 km north of Campbell River, or 170 km SE of Port Hardy).

- Turn off hwy 19 towards Sayward, and drive about 7 km to Frenchman Road. (You will cross the Salmon River twice, as well as several other creeks.)

- Turn left onto Frenchman Road, and follow the road less than 2 km to a stop sign.

- Turn left onto Salmon River Main (a paved logging road). Continue for 1.4 km. Our driveway is on the right, just after the 6 km marker.
