I stayed at the YMCA2 for 3 nights. I stayed there because I was looking for a cheap private room and at 22 pounds a night I wasn't expecting too much.
When I arrived it felt like I was in the ghetto and I did not have high expectations at all. The staff at reception seemed rude at first as it seemed that they were ignoring me when I arrived but after a few minutes they seemed much more inviting.
I was directed to my room and was quite surprised at the cleanliness and quality of the room. I'd just come from staying in a 4 bed dorm and was in need of some privacy and quiet.
Overall I was impressed with the room and I would definately pay 22 a night again.
The room did not have a private shower or toilet but there were many on the floor I stayed on (floor 4) with nearly every bedroom being located immediately adjacent to one.
In terms of location I thought it was pretty poorly located. Mind you it was only a 5 min walk to 2 tube stations but there wasn't really much to see and do in the immediate vicinity.
The hostel didn't have many facilities but they did offer free internet on 2 computers in the lobby (no wi-fi). There was a breakfast / dinner hall too and there breakfasts were half decent for a free meal (just make sure you double check the times they serve brekky as I was given incorrect times and missed out on brekky one morning).
If you're looking for a place to chill on your own for a couple of nights this is definately the place for you. I'd stay here again.
