Ratagan Hostel, Shiel Bridge, Schottland

Ratagan Youth Hostel has one of the best locations in Scotland. From the attractive lochside garden, the views across to the Five Sisters mountain range are breathtaking. Good facilities mean the hostel is popular with walkers and tourist alike.

There are otters, badgers and pine martins in the area. Red deer are numerous, and on the mountains ravens, ptarmigan, sea and golden eagles and mountain hares can be found. The hostel is only 8 miles from the world famous Eilean Donan Castle, which you can already see from the front of the building.

We offer wee breakfasts for £3.75 and you can now purchase beer, wine and cider on the premises. We also have some self-catering style meals in our hostel shop where guests can also purchase some necessities.

By Bus:

Buses to Shiel Bridge (1.5 miles from hostel) from Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh & Skye.

By Train:

Nearest train station 18 miles, at Kyle of Lochalsh (trains to Inverness).

By Car:

From Inverness or Fort William take the road to the Isle of Skye. Turn off the A87 at Shiel Bridge (sign post to Ratagan). After 3/4 mile take the turn to the right down to the loch-side to hostel.

On Foot:

From Shiel Bridge, walk 1.5 miles, following the signs for Ratagan. Walk through the village on the loch-side to hostel.

Please note that the hostel may be closed during the daytime from 10.30h to 17.00h and a nightly curfew applied. For details please contact the hostel directly.
