The Ram Bhawan Residency is a cultural centre that hosts a home-stay and the offices of two NGOs: the Varanasi Heritage Foundation that protects and promotes local heritage and the Kautilya Society that facilitates intercultural dialogue.
In order to reside at Ram Bhawan, guests need to become members of the Varanasi Heritage Foundation (not included in the online payment, see details below) and all proceedings go towards funding the NGOs and their cultural and social projects.
The atmosphere of Ram Bhawan is conducive to reading and study and remains faithful to the simple comforts of an Indian home, with a splash of colour. It is a is an 80 year old four-storey house built in a traditional Indian architectural style. It enjoys a beautiful view of the River Ganga from the terrace. It is situated in the alleyways of the heart of old city of Varanasi, just next to Dashashwamedh Ghat (or the main ghat as tourists call it) .
Room rates include half-board (breakfast and lunch, except on Sundays when we offer a wholesome breakfast), wi-fi, possibility of using a kitchen to cook your own dinner, a common fridge and a water purifier to fill up your water bottles.
The membership charges that are not included in the online payment, are:
- Rs. 200 for 6 months
- Rs. 300 for 1 year
- Rs. 1,000 for lifetime
