Very nice hostel. Lovely family-atmosphere. Lovely people. Good food made by the grandmother on the rooftop. Some minutes away from the river. Best take a pre-paid riksha ad give the reciept first to the driver, when you are sure that you are at he right place. Maruti does not work togehter with the riksha-mafia, so some of the drivers does not want to drive there and try to bring you to other hostels.

In short - this is the place to stay in Varanasi if you want to get to know the city! Clean, cozy rooms, wonderful service - please do yourself a favor and do try the Kashmiri stuffed potatoes -, while Mr. Tripathi is a great guide to the city and to the Hindi culture in general. Just try the evening walk with him by the Ganges shore, he is a great company with good stories.
Mr. Tripathi can also arrange a driver service for a sightseeing tour. You don't really need any other thing to have a good time in Varanasi while staying at a friendly family with a pleasant ambience, great food and genuine hospitability. Oh yes, don't forget to have a good look at the clothes hand made by Tripti!

Nice but basic rooms, the real value here is the family owners - both Papu and Tripti are great, Papu is a fountain of local knowledge and his Ghats area sketch is better than any guidebook map. Make sure you try the Kashmiri stuffed potatoes - they're amazing!

This was a wonderful place to stay that made my time in Varanasi all the more special. Babu and Tripti who run the place made me feel very welcome. The food was lovely and Tripti makes lovely jewellry and dresses which are hard to resist.
Rooms are good, prices very reasonable and they make sure that you know your way around Varanasi, letting you know all the sights to see. Maruti is only 2 mins walk to Assi Ghat and an easy stroll along the Ganges to other ghats like the Burning Ghat.
The rooftop garden was an oasis after a day of sight seeing!
I highly recommend Maruti Guest House to everyone travelling to Varanasi :-)
