Family owned and run by Sheila McKiernan, the Keepers Arms is situated in Bawnboy a 30 minute drive form Cavan town in a small peaceful village set at the foot of Slieve Rushen. Formerly a coaching house, the stone building has recently been restored, with great care taken to retain the original character of the building, while still providing a high standard of comfort and modern facilities.

We aim to make your stay a comfortable one and all our bedrooms have been decorated and equipped with this in mind. There are eleven ensuite rooms and all have central heating, tv, direct dial telephone and tea and coffee-making facilities. So whether you require a single, double, twin-bedded, king-size or family room, we can give you what you need.

In nearby Ballyconnell you can watch the cruisers and canal boats gently glide amongst the swans on the peaceful waters of the newly restored Shannon-Erne waterway. And if you are lucky you will spot a heron or maybe even a kingfisher. Boat and bicycle hire is available on request, as well a wealth of information on attractions and activities in the area.

Facilities & Attractions:

The fully licenced premises attached offers traditional Irish or continental breakfast, a bar lunch and evening meals are also available. And special diets can accommodated. The bar has a large open fire for relaxing in front of with the locals in the evening, as well as a pool room, dart board and satellite television. If you fancy a bit of Iish 'craic', traditional music can be found most evenings in several local pubs. There is private car parking in the courtyard and a garden for guest use.

With three golf courses - Slieve Russell 18 hole, Belturbet and Ballinamore 9 hole - and five lakes or rivers within a 3KM radius (stocked with bream, roach, perch, tench, pike, trout and eel), the golfing and fishing enthusiast is literally spoiled for choice. Golfing and fishing parties can be catered for. There is a tackle cold room and bait can be ordered locally. Swimming, clay pigeon shooting and shopping excursions can also be arranged and a babysitting service is provided.
