Das 1879 entstandene Gebäude war zur viktorianischen Zeit ursprünglich eine medizinische Fakultät und steht heute unter Denkmalschutz.
Avalon House ist eines von wenigen Hostels in Irland, das über Windenergie betrieben wird und seinen Müll vollständig recycelt.

You pay for your room upon arrival but please make sure your credit card is valid. Cards are verified the night before arrival and bookings with invalid credit cards may be canceled.
If you have booked using a debit card, you must contact the hostel at least 24hrs before arrival to confirm.
If you are in any doubt about this please ring and confirm your booking before you arrive.
Photo I.D must be shown on check-in - passport, driver's license or European I.D cards
Check-in to all rooms is from 2pm onwards.
Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and cannot share dormitories
Please note that all dormitories and toilets are unisex unless otherwise stated.

I took the double room with shared bathroom, the room is quite small yet very comfortable.
The staff are very nice people, very helpful...
The facilities are great, the wireless network was working quite ok, yet i had some disconnections...
Bottom line.... I already recommended this place to my close friends....

Staff are excellent, very willing to go out of their way to help!!!
Bathrooms & showers need updating. No powerpoints in either the 10 bed dorm we're staying in or the shared bathroom. Can't charge necessities such as cameras, phones, or dry your hair for night out on the town which is dissappointing.
complementary breakfast & internet access is very handy.

I had a private room for my stay at Avalon house. I don't really have anything negative to say about the place hence all the 5-stars above. Sure, I might have stayed in places with a nicer view, more security or whatever, but for a hostel in a European capital this was a nice place. It had a good vibe and the free breakfast was just fine. I don't remember any noise at night at all and as I remember the rooms were all a bit withdrawn from the front part of the hostel where the main lounge area/street was. Would recommend it to both family and friends.
