FROM THE AIRPORT
By taxi:
Taxi fares have to be negotiated before boarding. Taking an official taxi is the safest option. Go to the front desk and choose a taxi company. Show them the printed hostel map and address. The taxi fare to the hostel should be 50 or 55 soles, no more. If they give you a higher price than this then try the next taxi company. When you finally arrange the price with them pay and get your receipt before riding the taxi. Tipping is not necessary. The journey will take between 35 and 40 mins depending on traffic. We don't recommend you to take an unofficial taxi outside of the airport for security reasons.
By bus:
Buses that come from the airport are small and they are always full. We recommend you this option only if your luggage is small. Just go outside of the airport and take the bus that has an "S" sign in the front window. Tell the driver to let you know when the bus is at the intersection of Benavides and La Merced avenues. Go off the bus and from here walk six blocks along La Merced until you reach La Merced #888. You'll see a white building to your right, that's the hostel. The journey will take a bit more than 1 hour depending on traffic.
FROM THE BUS STATION
There's no central bus station in Lima. Instead, bus companies have their own terminals spread all over the city. Regardless of your bus terminal location the best option is to take a taxi. Just take one outside of the terminal and don't pay more than 15 soles.
