Kinloch Lodge is a remote, lakeside wilderness lodge located in New Zealand's South Island. Just a stone's throw from the Routeburn and Greenstone tracks and within easy reach of Queenstown and Glenorchy, we offer accommodation ranging from 4-share bunkrooms to queen B&B rooms. You can self-cater or enjoy a meal in our restaurant, and spend the days trekking, fishing, jetboating, horse-trekking, or simply enjoying the magnificent natural surroundings. Track transport service available.
The hostel at Kinloch is Qualmark 4 star plus rated Backpackers, is a Lonely Planet Authors Pick and has received a Trip Advisor Excellence award. The lodge is suited to anyone who is interacting with our countryside.
If forms the perfect base for heading out and exploring the hiking trails for day walks or staying pre & post overnight hikes. The Routeburn, Greenstone,Caples, Rees & Dart tracks are all accessable from Kinloch Lodge.
We can sort out all your transport needs, get your bags to the other end of the track (!) and you can treat yourself to a soak in our hot tub and a hearty meal in our restaurant after the hike while our drier gently dries your boots overnight.
Tramping supplies and hut tickets available.
Bikes and fishing rods are available for hire. Guided kayak trips operate from the lodge in the summer season.
All our rooms are heated and are made up with all linens and towels are provided free of charge.
In the hostel we have 4 share dorms, a triple bedded room, doulbes, twin, superkings and double en suite rooms. Our family rooms have a supeking and a set of bunk beds.
By car: drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy and then follow the signs for Kinloch. Total disance is 76kms. The last 9kms are a well graded gravel road suitable for 2 wheel drive vehicles and bicycles.
By shuttle: in the hiking season there are morning and afternoon shuttles from Queenstown to Glenorchy and Kinloch Lodge arranges pick ups / drop offs to meet these. Allow @$35 per person each way from Queenstown to Kinloch. Minimum numbers apply.
Kinloch Lodge runs a commercial shuttle service to drop you off / pick you up at the Routeburn / Greenstoen / Caples tracks.
