We booked by Travellerspoint so we wouldn't be wandering under packs looking for a home when we arrived. Our first shock was that the hostel, although near the ruins, was several kilometres (40 peso by taxi) from the town's restaurants. If offers free internet and bicycles but just try to get a go at either. Free breakfast comes at 9.00, after most tours you may be on have left.

Lobo Inn is located a ten minutes walk from the beach and Tulum's archaeological ruins and only 3 km away from town. Tulum town itself is actually 7 km away from the beach. As such, Lobo Inn the ideal place to stay for an unforgettable vacation in the Mexican Caribbean.
A beautiful hostel with spacious garden and pool with relaxing atmosphere. We are part of HI Mexico
A friendly service is provided by the owners Cynthia and Lobo who will help you to have a memorable stay, with a personalized service.

A large cooked breakfast is served every day and we provide purified drinking water free of charge. The internet is free.
We will give you free lifts to town and the supermarket, and we have a large equipped kitchen with fridge and fridgefreezer
You can buy phone cards, stamps, and basic necessities from the cafes on the way to the ruins

Our private room was squalid, the sink a converted cooking-wok that barely trickled, the shower-head a disfunctional conch shell. I'm not sure of the brand of the air conditioner but suspect it was a Legionnaires. The toilet had no seat and when we mentioned it to the receptionist, he looked at us as if to say think yourself lucky you have the toilet.
We are on the elderly side of the back-packing set and this place just about cured us of the practice. There were plenty of young packers there though so maybe they found something we didn't. They must be easily pleased though.
