Vicente y todo el personal muy amable.
El mobiliario muy muy antiguo.
En la 3ª planta, pero se oyen mucho los coches y otra gente que sale del bar irlandés por la noche.

Summary: HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED because of COCKROACHES AND ALL IN ALL A DISASTROUS HOTEL (ugly, dirty rooms and unpleasant landlady who doesn’t speak any foreign languages.) Please read all our points if you want to know exactly why we don't recommend it.

The first three days of our honeymoon we stayed an another hostel on the Gran Via de la Cortes Catalanes, that was perfect. After we travelled to Calella where we spent beautiful 4 days. When we went back to Barcelona we wanted to stay at Hostel SantCarlos whis is closer to the centre. We enquired personally, but:

1. the owner did not give us any guarantee that we will have a room 3 days later, although their rooms were free.
2. She showed us a room, but after we arrived (we had to book through this site) she gave us a different room which was dark, dusty and much smaller.
3. The lock on the door wasn’t working, so finally she broke it in. Because it was so late and I had high temperature from the lettuce I ate the previous day we had no other option but to stay in this hostel. We blocked the door with a chair.
4. The window looked to a ventilation shaft (lichthof) from which cigarette smoke, frying oil, fish smells and a lot of noise was coming in.
5. The furniture was old, depressingly dark and very dusty.
6. The bathrooms were stinky and disgusting.
7. The next day we forced her to give us another room, which she did after a long argument, she spoke only in Spanish. Luckily my wife speaks Spanish well.
8. After only half an hour in this room a HUGE COCKROACH appeared on my drying T-shirt. It was 10 centimetres long! We decided to leave immediately.
9. She did not give us any compensation, what’s more, did not give our money back.
10. She told us that the cockroach is not her responsibility, we should blame the city of Barcelona for it.
11. She always gave different explanation to everything, which means she lied all the way.
12. We met same nationatlity guests who paid a smaller amount for a bigger room.
13. The door was always open and the lady was not around. First we were waiting for 10 minutes until she finally showed up. It was not secure and there were no facilities here.

Inspite of all these we had a wonderful honeymoon.

Room wasn't ready on time,room and sheets were not clean,the wifi works only in the corridor ...poor place for overprice.the only thing which is good is the location.

Location is great, 5 min. walk from the Plaza Catalunya and just in front of Plaza Urquinaona... safe neighborhood.
It was clean and they cleaned the room every day.
Internet connection didnt work.
Service was ok.
