After reading some good reviews I was a little disappointed in this hotel. The staff were great, friendly and extremely helpful. The location was very good too, next to Pho Quyen which is probably one of the best pho places I've been to.

However, the room, which was clean, was a lot smaller than I'm used to in Vietnam, and I've seen powder rooms bigger than the bathroom. It was so small I actually felt like I was in a port-a-loo.

As far as value goes, I've stayed in similar priced accomdation in Vietnam that offered bigger rooms and much bigger bathrooms. Overall I have to say I would not recommend this place. If not for the staff I would have given it a much lower overall score.

I had a great stay at Red Sun hotel and the next time i am in Vietnam i would not hesitate to stay there again, there are too many good thing to list, but a perfect place for the world traveler to stay.

The Red Sun Hotel is in a great location. Centrally located to major sights in Ho Chi Minh City. Although, the rooms are large they are quite sparse. We only had one electrical outlet in our room. However, for the price the value is fabulous. Clean rooms. The staff more than make up for the lack of facilities. They are really nice and very helpful. They went out of their way to book us tours at last minute. Really nice service, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a decent room at a fabulous rate with amazing service.

I had stayed at Red Sun for 6 days. The location was quite strategic. Quiet from the traffic, which was well hidden from the main road by surrounding buildings because honking was something normal in Vietnam (you wouldn't want to hear it when you're sleeping in the middle of night). About 5 to 10 minutes from Ben Than Market (the bus station). The hotel would charge you US$ 14 if you ask them to arrange a transport from airport to the hotel. But it cost you US$ 8 for an airport taxi which the ticket is available near the arrival exit door. But when I took taxi from the hotel area, it cost me about 106,000 Vietnam Dong, or about US$5.50. But of course, Redsun can arrange for you a taxi to the airport for US$8, which some hotel charge US$7. Or you can use taxi to Ben Than Bus station (cost you about US$ 1 or 20,000 V Dong) and from there take bus to the airport for a fare of just 3,000 VD (they charge another 3,000 if you have big luggage with you)(bus service until 6pm only). I did try to use it to the airport and went back to Ben Than Bus Station just to get the feeling, anywhere the fare was really cheap compare to taxi. So I can positively tell you that you can use the bus from the airport to Ben Than market, the buses park just about 50 meter from the arrival exit door. Redsun's staffs were quite friendly and helpful, they always advised us to use Vinasun taxi (they always use meter). No water heater or electric kettle, but you can ask for hot water if you need it (the staff will give you flask, and they would ask you to return it early in the morning). The laundry was quite expensive, but you can send it to the laundry shop kiosk nearby (just around the corner). Breakfast was boring. Quite clean but small room, probably among the lowest rate per night. But I recommend the guest to pay the hotel rental in US$ because if you pay in Vietnam Dong it will cost you more. (US$1=21,000 instead of 20,000). For Muslim guests, there is 1 Indian restaurant which serves halal food just around the corner so check it for yourself. Hope this will help you.

We had avery wonderful stay. The staff are very courteus, friendly and helpful, though the locatgion isn't so impressive as you have to pass a narrow alley, overall it's a nice place to stay. We will again stay in Redsun when we come back to HCM city.

We stayed at Redsun II for two nights. Our room was very clean and the hotel itself was very clean. Breakfast is served a few doors down at Resun I. The hotel clerk was very helpful and arranged two tours at very reasonable prices (cheaper than if we would have went direct to tour operators). The staff is friendly and willing to help in any way. We even booked our flight out of Saigon to Danag through them. We were very satisified with our visit and thought the price was outstanding.

Note-if you arrive late and the door is pulled down-knock loudly or pull up the door! Stay away from the Rainbow Hotel next door-dirty and over-priced. They will try to tell you Redsun is full or not there-NOT TRUE!

Most of the interesting places are within walking distances. The park is just across the Pham Ngu Lao Road. The hotel is a bit hidden but quite new and clean. The alley to the hotel needs to be refurbished. Overall, it worth for budget travellers.

The landlady and staff greeted us with much hospitality and warmth. Our stay was excellent. Despite the upgrading renovation noise, we were satisfied with their service. Breakfast was packed for take-away when we were going for a day tour early in the morning. International plug was bought on the 2nd day as i did not bring my adaptor to charge my mobile phone, and it was too late at night to buy it when i requested for one. The staff were all smiley and polite, patient and understanding. They advised us of places to go according to our interests.

This hotel is value for money for their family way of treating the guests. We were required to take off our shoes and parked at the shoe racks before we go to our rooms, this is for hygiene purpose. Our wet umbrellas were well taken care of.

Breakfast is nice fresh french loaf with eggs, strawberry jam or butter, or even noodles. It comes with a fruit and a drink.

The location is good, near to the Ben Thanh market, 10 to 15 minutes walk away.

The internet service is 7.30am to 10.30pm, but for booking of tickets purpose, exceptions are made.

Beds and daily change of towels are clean. Room is with air con. Toilet is clean and brightly lit, with hot showers.

Will definitely go back again in our next trip.
