We recently visited the Hostal Portobello as 2 Canadian couples. The owners were super friendly and helped us with luggage, information, dinner tips and things to do in Valparaiso. Based on their information, we had a great time in Valparaiso and would recommend this B&B to anyone interested in visiting Valparaiso for the many historic and cultural attractions.

Estamos emplazados en un sector tradicional de Valparaíso, con vista a la bahía y al anfiteatro de sus cerros. Bajo el concepto de hostal boutique, ofrecemos un cómodo y acogedor alojamiento, decorado con estilo y calidez en vías de una estadía íntima y de calidad.
Nos encontramos a pasos del paseo 21 de mayo, Museo Naval y de las tradicionales casonas de Playa Ancha. Próximos al centro financiero, la Plaza Sotomayor, los cerros Alegre y Concepción, circuitos patrimoniales, restaurantes, bares y pubs.
Contamos con servicio de desayuno incluido, además de Internet WI-FI, agua caliente las 24 horas e información turística.
Nuestra casa ofrece una infraestructura amplia y luminosa con una habitación familiar, una matrimonial, una doble y una single, también con una terraza para disfrutar del sol y de la maravillosa vista a la bahía.
Nuestro objetivo es ofrecerle un servicio de calidad y eficiencia armonizado con una cálida y personalizada atención, para hacer de su visita a nuestro puerto una experiencia inolvidable.

We recently visited the Hostal Portobello as 2 Canadian couples. The owners were super friendly and helped us with luggage, information, dinner tips and things to do in Valparaiso. Based on their information, we had a great time in Valparaiso and would recommend this B&B to anyone interested in visiting Valparaiso for the many historic and cultural attractions.
The following should be kept in mind:
1. Valparaiso is very hilly and visitors should be in reasonable shape to take full advantage of the many sights. The B&B is located on a steep street that is not accessible by car, the nearest point is about 200m uphill from the Hostal
2. While the Hostal has a great view of the bay and the working port, container cranes are in operation 24 hours per day, so it tends to be a bit noisy, although we quickly adjusted to this aspect.
Based on the Alejandro's (owner) recommendatiuon, we ate in the Puerto Viejo restaurant and the food and ambience were amazing at a very reasonable price.. Definitely worth it.
This was our virst visit to Chile and we found the people to be very friendly and the values to be great.
Overall, the Hostal Portobello is highly recommended

By Trole: In Av Argentina, just one block from the bus terminal you can get our traditional trolebus, get off at 'La Aduana', and get the elevator 'Artillería' from the top of the hill you can walk down Artillería road to the number 115. Cost trole 250 + elevator 300.
