Esta es una crítica confiable. ¿Por qué?

THIS HOSTEL IS REALLY COMFORTABLE, I STAYED NINE NIGHTS AND I REALLY LIKE IT. THE LOCATION IS GREAT, YOU CAN SEE THE BEACH FROM THE HOSTEL AND IT’S RIGHT NEXT TO 5TH AVENUE. THE SERVICE IS GREAT AND THE STAFF IS REALLY HELPFUL AT GIVING. THERE’S A LOT PLACES NEAR THE HOSTEL THAT GOOD TO EAT AT AND IS NOT VERY EXPENSIVE. IF YOU NEED A PLACE TO STAY AND HAVE FUN YOU NEED TO STAY AT HOSTEL RIO PLAYA.

I stayed in this Hoslte where i was welcome by some friendly people. I had a great time hanging out with the bar tender and the people there. They shared alot of information about the place and was able to find very nice places to visit.

I was able to use the internet at any time since its free, the only thing was that they only have two computers which sometimes made it a longer wait then i wanted to. They have a clean kitchen that is shared with all the guest i even shared some great meals with the other people there.

Washrooms we had a washroom in our dorm and there were two other bathrooms and showers available to use that are shared by the other dorms and guests.

In an overall i had a great time here and they even had Salsa lessons availabe during my stay..... i defenatly recomend this place since i visited another hostel around the are that looked very sketchy and cheap.......

This place is simply horrible. Here is the story:

I booked DoubleBed Room with private Bathroom for 40 USD per Night.

When i arrived with my girlfriend they gave us a room which:
- didn't have a private bathroom
- stank horribly like old
- had a big window which goes DIRECTLY to the internet room of the hostel, so unless the curtain is not closed, you feel like an animal in a zoo
- was as good as empty, except one bed (uncomfortable thin linen and pillow) and one old wooden shelf
- had a floor consisting of pure concrete
- was NOT cosy at all

By the way:
Nothing is included, you have to pay for internet, towels, everything...

So we went to complain, that this is NOT what we booked, especially cause we didn't have our own private bathroom. We talked for about 30 mins with the staff of this hostel but they didn't have rooms with private bathrooms. So we asked for discount, but they didn't give us any. So my girlfriend and me decided to cancel. The staff there said that we have to pay 40 USD if we want to cancel, IN ADDIDTION to the deposit of 30 USD which i already payed in advance. I don't really know if he had the right for charging us of this amount, to my point of view i have to pay one night in case of cancellation, which means totally 40 USD (30 USD deposit already payed + 10 USD in cash). So we asked to talk to the owner of the hostel. The owner of the hostel behaved in a very arrogant way, he was laughing at us, and wanted us to pay this additional 40 USD. So in the end we gave up, and went one block further (very close, about 50 meters) to a hotel called "Maya Turquesa" where we payed 500 Pesos per Night for and it was simply wonderful.

We walked by this Hostel Rio Playa many times cause it's near to the place we stayed in the end, and we had the impression that it was very noisy. (it's located in the same building with a club/bar which was open almost all night).

SO DO NOT GO TO HOSTEL RIO PLAYA!!!

The property is new and tastefully done with lots of counter space for preparing food, good sized lockers, and a really nice lounge area on top of the building. And it is only a block and a half to the beach! They also provide free internet service (two machines) and wifi.

As with any new business there are growing pains. The only problems I experienced were faulty air conditioning and extremely loud music from a bar below the hostel. The bar situation was handled as soon as it was brought to the attention of one of the owners of the hostel. I don't know about the air conditioning as I changed to a different room.

There are a variety of rooms to choose from depending on your budget. I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm for a few nights and then switched to a 6 bed mixed dorm with a bathroom for the rest of my stay. I would have prefered the upstairs 6 bed with bathroom to be a same-sex dorm because of the opaque and clear glass wall and door, and the open design of the shower wall. Other females I spoke with felt the same way.

All and all my experience at Hostel Rio was very satisfying. I will definitely return to the Rio the next time i am in PDC.

Suggestions:
1. Add toasters and kettles to each 'kitchen'.
2. Put a notice on the refridgerator for everyone to label their food with name, room-bed, and check-out date so everyone knows what can be tossed or labeled as "free food".
3. Also let everyone know that the fridge will be cleaned every week (say on a tuesday) and that unlabelled food will be tossed or donated to "free" if appropriate.

Good job to the management and staff at Hostel Rio!!!
