Four of us, females, stayed at Riad Basma for 4 nights and loved it! We organised a taxi with the Riad to pick us up from the airport as we arrived quite late. Although quite expensive, I would recommend doing this as I don't think we would have found it otherwise as taxis are not allowed into the Jemma el Fna at certain times. We were met at the taxi drop off point by Mohammed who greeted us and arranged for our luggage to be taken the 10 minute walk to the Riad.

Riad Basma es un bonito y relajante lugar, situado en la medina de Marrakech a pocos minutos de la plaza Jemaa el Fnaa y de los zocos.
El riad esta compuesto de cinco habitaciones dobles (Bouchra, Zara, Ghadia, Fatima y Amal)cada una equipada con baño privado, un patio central con decoración arabe, salón, sala de estar con TV satélite/DVD y una sala de estar abierta al patio fresca en verano y muy acogedora en invierno.
El riad también dispone de una agradable terraza donde podrás disfrutar del desayuno bajo la tienda berebere o simplemente tomando el sol y disfrutando de un té a la menta que ofrecemos a todos nuestros huéspedes.
El estilo tradicional típico marroquí ha sido usado para los muebles y la decoración y da a esta propiedad un verdadero espíritu marroquí.
Estamos situados junto a la plaza Jemaa el Fnaa a solo 3 minutos andando, una vez estas en la plaza Jemaa el Fnaa pregunta por Derb Dabachi y cuenta 3 pequeñas calles (Derb)a la derecha, nos encontramos en el numero 22.

We were met at the taxi drop off point by Mohammed who greeted us and arranged for our luggage to be taken the 10 minute walk to the Riad. The Riad is located near to the main square down an alley way. When we walked through the doors we were amazed at the quiet and beauty of the place. Our room, which was on the ground floor, was not the most private but this did not spoil our trip in any way. The other room our party occupied was on the first floor. Mohammed arrived each evening and stayed over night. He doesn't speak much English but is fluent in French which was fine for us. He was also there for breakfast which we ate on the sun terrace. At other times the manager Mdm Hessna was there to help and provide any information we needed and speaks fluent English. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, making tea and providing a welcoming return each day. We organised a taxi trip to the Atlas mountains with the Riad. Our driver, Amrani, was brilliant. He spoke perfect English and was very good company. We had a very memorable trip to Marrakech and felt completely safe. We can recommend Riad Basma as a great place to stay.

The building and interior decor were truly amazing. Sympathetically in keeping with Morroccan style and authenticity. Our room was fantastic though not very private. The managers/owners weren't to be seen, staff that were around didn't appear to be bothered with you and the facilities weren't readily or obviously available for use ie;Tea/Coffee making facilities? There was no information available to guests as to what to expect (check in/out times, facilities, breakfast etc...)
The 'Petit dejeuner' was exactly that - small! a 6cmx6cm pancake and a miniature muffin. Not impressed!
Although it does say in the blurb that tourism taxes weren't included in the room rate, we feel this should have been more prominent in the information given as we missed this and therefore weren't too impressed! we also weren't impressed that we did not receive our 50 dirham change - this would have been a meal for us. We wouldn't have left a tip because we didn't receive a service.

We had a great stay at Riad Basma. Very friendly owners, they want to make your stay as nice as possible. The location is very good, very close to the square, but very quiet. The rooms look nice, but the beds are a bit hard.
A nice place to stay!
