this hotel is well woth the cost but the location is down a long ally and off th beaten path so to speak, but the staff and the room are excellent my recomdations will be open a bar to someone has to where to drink, and please get a toaster for breakfast since i brought my bread for them to put in a microwave, but still this hotel is excellent and the staff is aslo excellent. thank you A Pecorella

Overall an excellen "secret"propertytucked away in the back lanes of District 1. The staff could not have been more helpfull, the room was probably the best I have stayed in on more than 10 trips to Vietnam.
Only downside was breakfast was only asian style which for me was ok but may not suit all tastes, my suggestion would be to offer a small basic western style menu for breakfast. All up a great hotel and will definately be staying there again

The situation was quiet good, it is in a small street close to a main street. Ir's dark at night.

i couldn't believe it when i entered the room! neat and tidy and pretty -- it was too decent a room i thought it could not be true at a mere ~US$20. the bed was large (king size i think) and the lighting was great! (p.s. just need to figure which white lights to off, and leave those orange lamps on).
they have a minibar, an electric kettle and a hairdryer! all toiletries (and even cotton buds) and towels are provided! they even have a teapot and complimentary tea leaves for you
not forgetting two bottles of mineral water. OH OH, and a 32-inch LCD tv. seriously, the only other hotel i know that offers such a big screen is Resorts World Sentosa (the casino) in Singapore. after all, we're paying so little and yet getting so much
the staff (there are four of them i think) are really friendly, offering ideas on where to go and what to do. they answered my questions quickly (on where are the bars, how far a walk is XXX) and with sufficient accuracy. most importantly, they have a good, decent map - for FREE. haha i was quite disappointed to find out that tan son nat airport stopped issuing free maps, so i was very thankful the hotel gave them out for free. i even lost my map twice and they offered me new ones lol.
i think there are only two down sides to this place, but the facilities and the room itself offers you so much you cannot turn down this place! the hotel is 6 storeys and has no lifts - so be prepared to climb the stairs if you stay on the higher floors (thus this place not that family friendly). secondly, it is a little far from the places of interest. honestly, i am a lazy person so anywhere is far for me. but it's quite a good spot, really. (i know i am contradicting myself... uhh so what i'm saying is if you have elderly with you, choose somewhere else. pham ngu lao is a really long stretch, and cat huy is on the further end). otherwise, perfect for adventure-seekers and youngsters and backpackers.
last but not least, they let me check out late because my flight was at 9pm!!! how great is that!

We stayed at Cat Huy twice during July and found it to be a luxurious haven of peace in a noisy and very busy part of HCMC .The rooms are spacious modern and very comfortable.The staff and particularly An couldn't do enough for us and the hotels manager/owner was charming.If you are looking for luxury at a very reasonable price in the middle of one of the most interesting parts of this city then you cannot go past Cat Huy Hotel;

Cat Huy is a bit hard to find as the entrance is at a small alley and the sign from main street Pham Ngu Lao is not so big. Everything else is more than what we expected from a budget hotel--for its price, the room looks new and is big, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The rest of the hotel is spotless, despite its location. Although the cafe downstairs is small and basic, but I didn't expect it to be great anyway, so I was not disappointed. The front desk staff does not speak much english but very helpful nonetheless.

Excellent...small place but excellent service.rooms were very neat and classy. The service was also very good. The place in located in the heart of the city and very close to many city attractions. Only negative thing would be that there is no lift in the building, hence be prepared for some good exercise if you are on the 6th floor! Will reccomend this place to anyone.
