Casa Mariposa, San Gerardo de Rivas, Costa Rica

Casa Mariposa (butterfly house) is a family owned rustic guesthouse built on the rocks located in San Gerardo de Rivas, Costa Rica, at the entrance to Chirripo National Park. Chirripo is the highest peak of Costa Rica (second highest in Central America), excellent for hikers and nature lovers.

This is the best place for hikers, bird watchers (bird watchers say it's better than Monteverde), and nature lovers in general. You can not only hike the highest mountain in Costa Rica, there are other beautiful hiking trails around, which are not so difficult.

You can swim in the pristine Chirripo river, enjoy beautiful waterfalls with picnic area, there is also local trout farm where you can catch your own fish and the owners will cook it for you.

We also offer horseback tours.

Casa Mariposa offers laundry service, internet service, hot bath (bath tub built in rocks).

Guests are welcome to use the kitchen, free coffee and tea.
