Rawhiti House & Backpackers, Geraldine, Nueva Zelandia

Situated within a few minutes easy walking distance to the village of Geraldine, Rawhiti House is a great place to relax and unwind on the journey through the wonderful scenery of the South Island. Our large house in peaceful surroundings was once a maternity hospital. Comfortable made up beds sleep up to 17 in 7 rooms with a mix of queen beds, twin, single and two shared rooms. Friendly clean and a homely atmosphere.

Our unique character home was originally built as a Maternity Home. Some features of the past are preserved in the building.

We encourage an atmosphere of friendliness and peace. Our aim is to provide a place for guests to have a good sleep in comfortable fully made up beds. Perfect before the long flight back to the Northern hemisphere or for breaking the journey between long travel destinations. We are one and a half hours drive from Christchurch city boundary. It is an easy few minutes walk to the Village.

Check in is after 2pm and our latest check in time is 9pm. No keys are left out for late arrivals.

We have a firm 10am departure policy.

Our hostel is not suitable for long term guests or for children under 6 yrs of age. Children under 16 will not be accepted in a shared room unless all others in the room are their family members.

Our house is a smoke free environment. There are smoke and heat sensors throughout the building.

Full use is made of the sun for solar water heating before using back up methods of heating water.

From North - Turn right down Peel St after passing the Shell service station and watch for Blue Backpackers Sign on Hewlings Street four streets up on the right.

From South - Turn left down Huffey St and watch for Blue Backpackers Sign on Right, then Left at one more Blue Sign.

We are the first driveway on the left in Hewlings Street. Up a long driveway on a back section.

From West - Turn left at Blue Backpackers Sign after entering 50km limit, then turn right at next Blue Sign and Left at one more Blue Sign.
