Bairro Ignez is an historic building in Oporto that has been facing the river Douro for more than 400 years. The views over the old convent and the river create a mysterious atmosphere that will enchant every visitor.

Bairro Ignez’s construction dates back to the year 1500 when it was part of Mochique's Convent. It underwent several use changes from a nail factory to a middle class residential building. It was renovated and is within the area classified by UNESCO as World Heritage. Bairro Ignez will put any visitor in contact with 500 years of history and in touch with the people of Oporto that live for generations at Bairro.

All apartments have the same traditional topology with a living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower or bathtub.

All apartments have windows in the bedrooms, living room and kitchen. The kitchens are equipped with gas stove, refrigerator and kitchenware for cooking.

The bedrooms have two single beds 90x200 and there is a possibility to have a sofa-bed on the leaving room on request.

Usage policy: guests must respect the silence, avoiding bother other neighbors.

Objects and equipment available in the apartment can not be taken from the same.

Best way to arrive at Bairro is by taxi. But you may also come to the historic centre by underground and find Bairro by foot.

Route Plan:

1) Go to the center of Oporto and find the river next to the historic old town;

2) Follow the river in direction of the sea;

3) Find a large street, Rua da Restauração, which climbs back to the center of Oporto; this Street starts at a square near the helicopter pad;

4) Follow this street until you find the street Rua Sobre-o-Douro, which is on your right.

5) The Bairro Ignez is the first long yellow house on the right when you descend.

6) The entrance to Bairro is the first arch door with a tunnel to the Bairro's common area.
