Mnazi House, Zanzíbar, Tanzania

Mnazi House is privately and locally owned boutique styled guesthouse on the archipelago of Zanzibar. It has been a residential home to many Zanzibari families in the past of different ethnicities. We have therefore aimed to preserve the same “ eclectic homely” charm to this newly established property in Stone Town.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY

Mnazi House has been created with the concept of supporting the local communities in every possible way by utilizing the tourism industry. A famous Swahili saying: “it takes a village to raise a child”, extends further in our house. We truly believe that sustainable tourism can be applied in every destination as a tool to support locals, in different ways.

We have collaborated with many types of artists, carpenters, tailors, retailers, suppliers etc in order to establish Mnazi House. In return, we aim to positively increase the socio-cultural and socio-economical effects of tourism.

We believe that in order for our communities to flourish, we all need each other’s support to enjoy the benefits of tourism, whilst preserving and allowing others to appreciate our culture and traditions.

OUR STYLE

A significant number of our furniture and décor originates from Zanzibar – whether it’s designed and/or hand made locally. We have also added some fusion from mainland Tanzania, which gives the style of nothing else but authenticity. Our main aim is to showcase the beauty and art of our Swahili culture, the creativity of its people – with a touch of modernity!

MNAZI CULTURE

Our culture teaches us to treat every guest as part of our extended “family”, and that is what the Swahili culture has pride itself for centuries. Zanzibaris are known for their great hospitality, experienced by merchants, travellers, and explorers from around the globe. We therefore allow and encourage our guests to be part of our little community and leave with nothing but pleasant memories.

THE ROOMS

All our rooms are tastefully decorated in a traditional Zanzibari manner, paying attention to comfort and simplicity as well as adding a modern touch, making it a place to be when one is away from home. Kindly note that our rooms are either En suite or apartment style rooms with sharing bathroom and toilet facilities
