A Houseboat is of course the best place to stay when you visit Amsterdam. The Friendship accommodates 4 people and it is right in the city centre. The Friendship is one of over 2,000 houseboats scattered all over Amsterdam.

Do not confuse the Friendship Houseboat with Friendship BnB. This was a different boat accommodation with a similar name which it is now closed, but it wasn't the same one!

The houseboat is situated in the heart of the city, within a 5 minute walking distance of from Central Station, Dam Square the Anne Frank House and the famous Red Light District. This is the main district of its kind but there are other smaller Red Light Districts around the city and the houseboat is in the centre of one.

The Friendship offers a basic accommodation, nothing too fancy but here you will find clean sheets and towels, a hot shower, hair-dryer, fully equipped kitchen which includes an oven, fridge, washing machine tumble dryer and a microwave. So if you like to cook, your basic facilities are there for you! The room has a gas heater so you don't need to worry about being cold.

Amsterdam maps, English Tea and Italian Coffee are free and are all available with sugar or sweeteners. Instant coffee is also available no but I don't have de-cafe or curfew.

In terms of entertainment there is Foosball (Table Football), A Pool Table, Ping Pong, Roulette and more! As we have the mini-versions you can play and play without getting exhausted

You can chill out doors on the roof terrace or stay inside and watch cable TV.

The computer is well connected. These connections include High-speed internet stereo speakers a 19" flat screen monitor and also High Quality Web-cam. So instead of just using skype, msn or voip to tell your friends and family back home about your great new tattoo, job, trick, song. shoes, boyfriend or hat you can show them instead. Of course if you would prefer to wait until you get back home and surprise them just unplug the Webcam and swap it for microphone + speakers or a headset instead. The computer also has DVD/CD player/burner, connections for iphones, MP3 players and anything with Bluetooth For people that prefer to bring their own machines there is also a surge protected power source and a Wi-Fi connection.

There is a separate entrance for the guest room and Guests can receive 1 or 2 keys for this door.

The keys are attached to floating key rings but there is still a €25 deposit required for each key. (€25 for one key or €50 for two keys). There is also a safe in the guest room.

The Friendships owner. who lives on the other half of the boat, has lived in the city for 20 years and was a guide for a third of that time! Put his qualifications as a guide to the test and ask him anything you want to know about the city. He can also give you a walking or boat tour at a small fee and you can choose what you want to see and where you want to go. No children or any country music (except Johnny Cash) are allowed on the tour or in the boathouse!

If you book for 3/3+ consecutive nights you can enjoy a free 1 ½ hour tour!

The boat is for 4 people and if you are travelling alone you still need to rent out all beds. The only other person you will be sharing with is the nice owner who lives on the other side of the houseboat and your friends if you bring them!

We rent one private room for up to 4 people. You must rent all four beds (even if you come alone). You will share the room only with your friends and the rest of the boat only with the owner, who is really nice!

Smoking is allowed outside. Inside you can only smoke if you open the door or a window and only smoke near to it. If you smoke around the beds you will set off the smoke-alarm.

Children and Country music are not allowed, with the exception of Johnny Cash.

Imagine yourself telling your friends that you went to Amsterdam, and that you NEARLY stayed on a houseboat.

Check-in is normally from 13.00 (1pm) to 18.00 (6 pm) and check out is normally before 11.00

A 10% payment is made when you book online and you can pay the balance in cash on arrival. In case you need to cancel, a 25 hour notice before arrival is required to be made by phone or email. You can find the phone number on your reservation.

If you don't show up, your credit card will be charged for the first night's reservation and the rest of the reservation will be cancelled. More information on this can be found on the Hostel world's section of FAQ.
