Tone Hostels is located in the exclusive Upper East Side of Manhattan between Lexington and Third Avenues on 94th Street. The location makes this hostel the closest to the famous Museum Mile of New York. In this area you will find The Metropolitan Museum, The Solomon Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum and The International Center of Photography among many other attractions. Walk three blocks East and you will reach Central Park. The closest subway station is only two short blocks away, on Lexington Ave. The area is also served by many buses. Although the hostel block is very quiet, you can find many services on Lexington and Third Avenue, such as a post office, a 24 hour pharmacy and supermarket, a police station, several banks with ATM machines, and various types of food available in the neighborhood’s numerous restaurants and bars.
All rooms in this cozy brownstone building have high ceilings and air-conditioned in the summer. All private rooms can sleep up to two people. All dormitory rooms have lockers for your valuables (bring your own pad lock). The larger dormitory rooms have their own bathroom. Linen is provided free of charge.
On the ground floor you will find a fully equipped kitchen in the common dining area, TV, internet access and a nice private backyard.

Taxes are NOT included in the rates shown, and will be applied upon check-in. Tax in New York is 14.75%
Check-in time is 3 pm and Check-out is 11 am.
When making reservations for more than 2 persons, please understand that you may be in different dormitories. We will always try our best to accommodate guests traveling together in the same room. But we also request your cooperation and understanding especially when the youth hostel is fully booked.

You must be 18 years of age to check in, if under, you must be accompanied by an adult and have a consent stating your guardians are aware of where you are staying.
***Cancellations or changes must be notified to the hostel at least 48 hours in advance via phone or email. In case of a 'NO SHOW,' a total of one night will be charged.

HORRIBLE!.. Almost.
Quiet time at 2200? I think not!
-Nothing was managed properly, a multitude of staff was up drinking late(0300) with the few people that wanted to stay up.
-Common room was filled up by the staff chitchat'n with the girls.
-The Sheets where not cleaned and beds all mixed up.
-Included Contenental Breakfast? Better get there early! it's one loaf of bread, one pot of coffee for the 30 to 40 beds in the joint.
-Bathrooms may also be used as a place to "hook up" as comdoms wrapers were found!All and all... Cheapest Place in Town and will never go back.

The on-line information did not really prepare us for the wardrobe size room - expected a bit more for the money. We would not stay at Lex again. However, staff were very helpful and the location is great.

I had a really nice stay in Tone on Lex (10 nights in a 8 dorm ensuite). The employees were very kind, it was clean and very good located (upper east side). metro is 5 minutes away. you can join the evening programme (disco, pub crawl,...) or enjoy only an easy going chat with people in the evening time or at breakfast.
When I'll visit NYC next time - I will stay at Tone on Lex again! ;o)
