Let's face it, if you're considering staying here, you're on a shoestring or you want to walk to the surf. Papara beach has a great beach break, very user friendly and consistent. The outer reefs are really fun too. Expect crowds, even during the week. The lodge has rooms on the top floor and a kitchen and living room on the first floor of the main building. The showers and bathrooms are in a seperate building a short walk from the main building. There are lots of bugs and lots of roosters. My fiancee could not sleep because of the lack of fans, loudness of the roosters, and amount of insects buzzing around her head and biting her. Also, there are thin walls if that makes a difference to you and your partner (or just you). We only stayed one night instead of two because of the problems. In short, the lodge is a great idea in theory. Cook food, save money, and surf close by without needing to rent a car, however, the cost of transport to and from the lodge and the poor accomodations make the lodge only a good choice for the truly needy.

Incredibly friendly welcome, great place 4 min away from a surf beach and a small lagoon with crystal clear water. The garden is full of fruit trees which the owner encourages to try, and the place is kept very clean. Definitely one of the best value for money on the island, I highly recommend it!

Although there was a language barrier. We tried to overcome this, in part quite successfully. Tahiti was a disappointment for me. This accommodation is well kept, the owners very friendly and the gardens are wonderful. The black sand beaches saw me exit to Moorea. The accommodation is far from civilisation, a good book is essential. The bed was an airbed! Unexpected! I was the only person there which made the conversation and interaction limited. There is a basic burger place nearby but that's about it. I did not take the bike option, which was offered by the owners but went for random bus rides. If you want to chill then I would say yes to this place (surf options close by 3 minutes) but it's very remote.

5 days into a 2 week stay and i am already content! Everything i was looking for, Thierry is great, the grounds are beautiful, fresh fruit, views, the surf beach a few minutes walk, fresh fish store in between with tuna sashimi to take away. Last night watched surf videos on the flat screen and went saw the famous Teahapoo by boat this morning and had a great surf session till sundown. Im ready to come back and havn't left yet. Looking forward to the next week!
