The Rooms

The rooms are very spacious and airy. Every room has a balcony with a wonderful view from Sorrento to Mount Vesuvius in all its splendour.

Precious furniture in cherry wood is in classical Italian style. The beds, with and without canopy, are big, with hypoallergenic mattresses for a rest ideal.

The archaeological site of Oplontis is distant 3 km from the Palazzo Rosenthal; it is in the heart of the modern town of Torre Annunziata.

The name Oplontis is certificated only in Tabula Peutingeriana, a medieval copy of an ancient map of the existing roads in Italy during the Roman Empire. In this paper the name indicates Oplontis some structures positioned between Pompeii and Herculaneum.

The main monument is villa Poppea, in which, alongside numerous bodies of victims the eruption was found a considerable quantity of gold coins and silver, along with numerous pieces of fine gold.

The villa di Poppea was included in the assets that UNESCO has called "Heritage" grandiose building residential half of the first century BC. The villa is attributed to Poppaea Sabina, the second wife of Nerone.


The Palazzo Rosenthal is distant 5 km from Pompeii ruins.

Buried under a blanket of ash and lapillus high about 6 meters, the ancient city of Pompeii, destroyed up by the 79 AD, was again in the light thanks to the campaign of excavations undertaken by the will of Charles of Bourbon, King of the Two Sicilies, in 1748. The archaeological site occupies an area of 44 hectares and is characterized by a remarkable state of preservation of buildings. It is without doubt one of the most popular sites visited in the world, with its perfectly paved roads, houses and villas, temples, the Forum, theatres e the unmistakable profile of Mount Vesuvius on the horizon.


Trecase has a very ancient origin. It was called “Pagus Augustus Felix Suburbanus" by Roman people. In 79 A.C. it was buried under the ash and rubble of Mount Vesuvius. In 1200 Federico II of Svevia used this spot as a royal hunting reserve called "Sylva Mala". In 1500 the first rural houses of Trecase were built, this name is because People had to pay taxes to three female monasteries, St. Chiara, St. Maria Egiziaca e St. Maria Maddalena. Nowadays, Trecase is a little town located at the foot of Vesuvius which dominates on it in unique scenery. Nowadays, Trecase produces some famous wines as Lacryma Christi doc, Caprettone, and Falanghina, besides to the delicious apricots. Very good cooking of restaurants and Hotels.

Vesuvius is 1281 meters high and is located slightly inside the coast of the Gulf of Naples.

The volcano is a particularly interesting for its history and the frequency of its eruptions.

By car coming from North

A1 Roma-Napoli motorway, getting into A3 motorway direction Salerno.

Take Torre Annunziata Nord exit, and then follow “Trecase” sign keeping left hand, pass out a little bridge, continue until a fork and turn on the left. Drive on until a little square with a church “piazza san Gennaro” and turn on the left again. Continue until you will see on the right side a sign “Palazzo Rosenthal”.

By car coming from South

A3 Motorway, exit Torre Annunziata North.

Take Torre Annunziata Nord exit, and then follow “Trecase” sign keeping left hand, pass out a little bridge, continue until a fork and turn on the left. Drive on until a little square with a church “piazza san Gennaro” and turn on the left again. Continue until you will see on the right side a sign “Palazzo Rosenthal”.

By train

From Piazza Garibaldi station in Naples take a Circumvesuviana train direction Sorrento or Poggiomarino, get off Leopardi stop, a shuttle bus (booked in advance contacting our reception office) will come to pick you up.

By plane

From Capodichino airport take a shuttle bus to Piazza Garibaldi station and take a Circumvesuviana train direction Sorrento, get off Leopardi stop, a shuttle bus (booked in advance) will pick you up.

By Taxi from Capodichino Airport
