The Pousada dos Franceses Hostel opened up in 1999 in the same place where the first hostel in São Paulo (known as Sampa Hostel) used to be.
Due to its excellent location, a few blocks from Avenida Paulista, the new owner Dominici Merari decided to change the hostel name and concept, offering a larger number of private rooms and suites while still receiving the 'backpackers', seeing that existed at that time a large number of tourists looking for dorm-room accommodation with cheap prices and good location in a clean and safe place. Thus, the Pousada dos Franceses offers dorm rooms for those who travel alone and are looking for cheaper prices, and private rooms and suites for couples, families and even that lone traveller that wants privacy, always having in mind that good accommodation doesn't have to be expensive.
And this is really our goal: to offer to our clients and guests the best cost x benefit relationship in the city. That's why we are always investing on improvements like the new kitchen, the new barbecue area, the outdoor area with garden where you can relax and read a good book, the study room with computers and wireless internet, 2 new flat screen TVs, new and comfortable couches, all done without increasing our daily rates.
We want to have a place full of happy people.
And all our staff work hard to make it happen. That's one of the reasons why the Pousada dos Franceses was picked in 2011 by the online version of 'The Guardian' as one of the 10 best places to stay in São Paulo, a fact that fill us with satisfaction though increases our responsability and interest on keeping improving.
