In case you're not up on your mythology...Calypso is a character in Homer's Greek epic "The Odessey." After the Trojan War, the main character Odysseus spends 20 years travelling home. Seven of those years were spent under the spell of the nymph Calypso on her island. In that same way, Budapest has enchanted us at the Calypso Chillout Hostel, and we just can't seem to leave! We want to share this amazing city with all who come to visit.

Inside the hostel we create a cosy, friendly atmosphere for the sociable solo traveller, couple or small group. We want Calypso Chillout Hostel to feel like a community, not a hostel. We have a small number of beds, so you'll instantly feel like you're staying at a friend's place. We'll introduce you to fellow guests right away so you can get to know the people you'll have amazing memories of Budapest with! We invite Hungarian friends to join us on nights out, so you'll be sure to get a great mix of people.

Speaking of nights out, Calypso Chillout Hostel is not a party hostel. We are in a residential building, so we must respect the neighbours after dark and guests who want to take it easy or catch an early train. However, you really won't want to sit and drink in our hostel when Calypso Chillout takes you out nightly to show you the most amazing nightlife Budapest has to offer!

If you can actually manage to leave Budapest, kudos to you! We at Calypso Chillout Hostel have travelled extensively in the region, so we can help you pick your next destination and (if you don't have a Eurail/Interrail pass) help you find the cheapest tickets to your onward destination!

We have a small number of beds, so you'll instantly feel like you're staying at a friend's place. We don't cram as many beds as possible into one room, so in the dorm you'll have room to breathe. We also have a huge common room so you can stretch out and relax after a long day (or night!). If you want to cook to recharge your batteries, we have an American style kitchen and a fridge with oodles of space! And forget about ever waiting for the bathroom! We have 3 toilets and 2 showers!
