B&B Salvatore, Rome, Italie

From the beginning the set up of this accommodation was weird. We arrived at the apartment building expecting to see a buzzer labelled B&B Salvatore, or some kind of signage, there was none. We asked a resident walking into the building and they had no idea about this property. On phoning the number we were buzzed in, there was no sign even on the door of the B&B, and no official certificates or safety documentation at reception.

This is not a B & B, it is rather a apartment where people are living and renting out a spare room. When we were there a family was living in the room beside us. There would have been around 11-12 people staying/living at the property when we stayed, all sharing one bathroom. The location is right near the train station which is handy if you are travelling by train, however the tram line is right under the window and makes for a very noisy night.

We understand that breakfast in Europe is not the same as breakfast in Australia and NZ, however it was inadequate, and thus this accommodation should not be advertised as a B & B. We also noted as we were looking around the kitchen that an alternative name had been used in the past, this lead us to be more suspicious of this dodgy set up. DO NOT stay here, there would be better value across the road at a number of local hotels. Staying here changed our view of Rome.

The guys running it were always on their toes to make sure that we had the best comfort and cleanliness in our room. And they even made a point to ensure that the bathroom stays sparkling dry at any time of the day. They were so nice to ensure that breakfast is freshly presented every morning and even though dinner isn't included, they offered to make us their traditional home-cooked food and they seriously know where to get the best coffee.
I'd highly recommend this stay to anyone going to Rome, as other than great hospitality and personality, it is located near the train station and walking distant to the Colosseum.
