If you only request for a place to sleep...you can choose it. I cost about Eur210 for 3 nights for a twin beds room with a shared bathroom. The location is perfect . Tt is very close to the Metro station.
The owner is friendly. But I seldom saw her during my stay.
The breakfast is extremly simple: bread plus a cup of coffee
The room is clean.
The room is not equipped with aircon, but it is cooling in end Sep so it does not matter to me.... Plus

B&B Laterano (Ottaviani) is located in the historical centre of Rome on the fourth floor of an old building just 50 metres from the Basilica di San Giovanni and 15 minutes from the Colosseum.
The central position will let you reach the most important monuments of the Eternal City and it is well connected with the rest of the city.
Recently renovated, it offers 5 rooms with all the comfort with fridge, television, and fans. Two of them are doubles with private bathroom. The other double, the triple, and the quadruple are with shared bathroom.
Note: it is compulsory to contact the B&B 3 days prior the arrival via e-mail in order to confirm the stay and communicate exact time of arrival

Wonderful place. Clean, beautiful, friendly and very accommodating. Free WiFi. Angela (owner) helped us get a cab on the last day. And she had a nice "to-go" breakfast on Sunday. There is a lift (elevator) which was extremely helpful to get our luggage up the four flights of stairs. If you are traveling near the time that we were there (May 2009), be aware that there is construction on the Metro line, so Via La Spezia is kind of hidden and you have to navigate around the construction walls to get there. The building that Ottaviani is in is between Via La Spezia and Via Taranto, very near to the Metro stop, San Giovanni. You may have to ask a local person how to get around the construction.
