x The average starting price for a place to stay in Wurzburg is £56 per night.
Sander Great hostel right across the street from the train station. Well equipped kitchen (with dishwasher!), free WiFi, etc. (Lots of power points in the dorm rooms!) Good atmosphere with always friendly staff, and a nice outside area on the "roof" to sit on (no views, as there's higher parts of the surrounding buildings all around, but good to catch a breeze on warm days). I have only two minor gripes: although the windows to the street are very well isolated (even those rooms facing the busy street right outside don't suffer from street noise), the same can't be said of the doors to the corridor. In fact, corridor noises seem to be amplified, and people walking across the hall early in the morning can easily wake you up. The other gripe is that the rooms don't have real curtains, but only one-way see through blinds. No one can look in, but you still get a heavy dose of sunshine coming in, which might wake you up much earlier than otherwise. Still, minor gripes those for what is otherwise a wonderful place to stay, which I will probably return to more often. (Having returned, and stayed in a room on the fourth floor, I have to add that the views from there on the train station and the hill beyond are pretty decent, too!)
