srivardhangnt Hi All We decided to travel from Jammu to Srinagar by road, the next day after having darshan of Vaishnodevi on 14May11. On the way we visited Patnitop and had a 2 hour halt there and proceed to Srinagar from there. Frankly, we were very famished with our journey as the same took more than the anticipated time due to frequent road blocades and traffic jams enroute Srinagar which I guess is a normal phenomena there and therefore instead of reaching Young Bombay at around 6pm we reached almost at 10:30pm. The owner of Young Bombay Mr Mohammed Gousani kept a frequent vigil on our arrival and kept calling us on a regular basis to check our whereabouts. The Houseboat allocated to our family (we booked two double bedded room) was elegantly decorated with a living room, dining room and well furnished bedrooms. Just a look at the ambience took away all the tiredness of our Journey. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Mr Gousani frequently enquired about our well being and also checked with us on the suitability of the place just like a good host who is always concerned about the well being of their guest. It becomes quite embarassing sometimes when your financial resourses runs out during a long journey due to unexpected expensed and this is what has happened even to us, and unaware that my mom carried some extra cash with her, I had to tell Mr Gousani about lack of sufficient funds while clearing the bill at the end of our stay and he was kind enough in giving us time to pay after returning to our home town, however mother intervened and advised to pay off full amount as she had carried sufficient extra cash to last us for the return journey without any problem. Who in todays World would trust a completely unknown guest to payoff on a later date....this shows the service mindedness and hospitality of the Management of Young Bombay. Mr Gosani's youngest son guided us during our shopping spree and I thought of paying him something for the service but as mentioned earlier, due to limited budget resourses available for our return journey I did not give him anything except a thank you.

ksukanya_99 Staying at Veena Palace house boat is value for money. It is very safe, clean and comfortable. Mr. Firdooz's service is excellent. I found the simple breakfast and dinner very delicious. Despite being a single Indian lady traveller visiting Srinagar for the first time, I felt very much at home at Veena Palace House Boat. Mr. Firdooz made all the arrangements for my sightseeing and ensured I was safe all along. He even came to pick me at the airport. The sightseeing plan he suggested was such that I did not get tired at the end of the day but covered all the important places. On my request for shopping suggestions, he arranged for sellers of orignal Kashmiri products to come over to the house boat and show their products. It was a very different experiece to see their products in the cozy living room of the house boat. The products were authentic, unique and very nice. He even helped me get discounts. He also arranged for me to pay through credit card for my stay and the things I bought even though they did not have credit card facility. I would recommend this place to all those who travel on a budget but want excellent value for their money.
