Myself, wife and kids stayed at Anne Hostel in late April for 4 days at the end of a 6week trip throughout Japan. We stayed on the 3rd floor where the continuous stench from the mens toilet near our room was overwhelming! The showers are the tiniest shower cubicles I have ever encountered in Japan, often flooded by the previous occupant. The leaking showers were not in good condition with all the clothes hooks snapped off and never replaced
which made it very awkward to keep your towel/clothes off the ground and dry in the cubicle. The location of a guest computer terminal immediately outside our room made it very awkward to access our room when people were using the computer. The greatest dissappointment to our stay was a handful of rude and arrogant Europeans (longterm guests?) that thought they owned the place. Very unfriendly! Can't blame the hostel for that though.

The selfish, inconsiderate guests in the next room would repeatedly allow their door to slam shut (LOUDLY) at all times of the day/night startling us all each time - one time it was slammed 3 times in ~10seconds!!! There was also a snorer in the next room keeping his roomates awake at night, one of his roomates would frequently start pounding LOUDLY on the wall to wake the snorer - but instead startling/waking everybody in our room at all hours of the night and morning!

Anne Hostel is a little difficult to find the first time and is quite a distance from the action of downtown Asakusa, you'll need a taxi or subway ride to get there otherwise it's a very long walk.

Overall we were dissapointed with the Anne Hostel and find it very difficult to believe the description that it's 'NEWLY built in 2008' - the toilets and shower rooms appeared quite old and run down. We would not stay here again when there are much better options for the same price, much closer to downtown Asakusa. Anne Hostel was the only accomodation during our entire Japan holiday that we were relieved to leave.

Anne Hostel was one of the few backpackers/hostels in Japan during our travels that would not accept creditcard payment! Hey it's 2010!
There is no secure place for long term storage of luggage the size of backpacks or suitcases. Free WiFi internet is a bonus.

The location is very good. Not too far from the Asakusabashi station. It will be better if the luggage deposit are provided before check in.

all together i stayed in this hostel for 2 weeks with 2 other ppl
place was in a good location only 1 stop away from akihabara.
very clean and new.
if you stay at the cheap bunker bed style expect to be in a crampy place, if you share with 2 other ppl expect to be woken up at 7 am due to other guest making noise in the morning and late at nite.
value for money was good.
service was great. facilities was all there but abit cramp up showers and no laundry.

Probably the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in, but without seeming sterile and characterless. Very comfortable beds with huge duvets to keep out the freezing March weather! Good location, easy to find from Asakusabashi station, and on a JR line - perfect if you have a JR pass, as you can get to anywhere on the Yamanote line for free. Really good free breakfast. A few more showers would be handy.

Rooms, toilets are very clean but when preparing the bedsheets, the room becomes dusty..

Not a very accurate review but is based on a bad situation we encountered there... And the location is not as accessible as it seems..

Had trouble finding this Hostel. Needs the railway exit no. given in the directions. In walking distance ok. The rooms , toilets & showers are very clean. The beds are western style bunks on floors 2 & 3 Japanese on 4th floor . The breakfast room is Japanese style. Breakfast is plain toast & hard boiled egg. Coffee or Tea.
Very narrow enterance with a lift. Has internet access.
Stayed one night slept well.
