Pacific Loft Guesthouse really doesn't have much running in it's favour. It's in Brooklyn, which means a long subway ride into the city. The kitchen/common room is the same room as the bunks, so there is no where to hang out when people want to sleep. There is only one bathroom for each floor, which usually means a long wait to use it. The roof leaks when it rains. Oh, and did I mention that there is a mouse infestation? Apparently the owner is too cheap to get in the exterminator.

I would definitely NOT recommend Pacific Loft to anyone. It's only redeeming factor was that it did not get shut down like a lot of (better) hostels in Manhattan, which was happened to hostels which friends were booked to stay at while I was there. If you do decide to stay, don't leave your food out for the mice.

The cheapest but not the cleanest. The competitive advantage is definitely the price, however the cleanliness and facilities provided are by far not the best.

Stayed here in March 2011 after reading everyone else's reviews we either didn't stay in the same place or when I stayed there they had given up cleaning for that week! I gave the location 3 stars this is based on the proximity to NYC and the subway stop which is very good whats not so good is the street it is on check it out on google street view before you book I didn't dare go out at night and I am not over exaggerating!! Cleanliness??????? where??? there was none basically when some one leaves someone arrives so theres not time to clean not once while I was there for 4 days was the bathroom/ kitchen cleaned, the man in the bunk above me didn't shower for the whole time I was there so 4 days thats not the hostels fault I know but he lived there and his sheets smelt thats another thing about the hostel when we stayed 5 people lived in our dorm permanently that was there home so its not just travellers and can be a bit intimidating when they speak to each other but not to you and when it gets fully booked they have an arrangement with desmond to move onto the couch so it frees up a bed but that couch is what pacific loft call the common room but it cant be when someone who lives there doesn't get off the couch all day and night?? Basically it is a huge room with 7 bunk bed in it so 14 beds in total the bathroom is in the room and the kitchen and the sofa is maybe a meter away from the kitchen so not very clean when someone is sleeping on the couch that close to the kitchen. Its a shame because this could be a really good hostel its got good internet good management and the service 5***** but I couldn't stay there again like I said I don't know if they where having an off week when I stayed because everyone else gave good reviews?? but hey its cheap and its a bed so you gotta weigh it up!! hope this helps

Very close to the subway stop so a short ride to Manhattan. Nice backyard and lots of dvds in the common area to watch if you don't feel like going out. Good wifi signal and a kitchen on each floor, so overall a good deal!

Hi:

I stayed there in June.The house is very lovely.The people who were there when I stayed there were just great.They dealt with my snoring.
Desmond was very helpful.He told me about some affodable places where I could eat.They do have a microwave.
The only problem that I had was with the subway system.May it burn in the deepest pit of HELL!!!!!!!!
Otherwise, thank you folks, keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!
