Staying in Reggae Hostel for the first and last days of our journey was the best idea for us. For the first days, which was supposed to be only 2 days, instead of the 4 we stayed,we got to go places you are told not to go,with many other travellers and employees,so I felt safe. The atmosphere at the hostel is really chill, people who work there really friendly and you get to socialise with backpackers from around the world. A big transportation centre is really close by to reach other destinations on the island. The property is really safely secured and gates keep outsiders out 24/7. The last days we got to do many things as well, just packed the taxi full of other travellers and went to enjoy a concert =D from there it is quite convenient to take a taxi to the airport,a taxispot just few houses down! For people, who wanna see and meet people from other places, make friends,go out and socialise,I do recommend!!!

Thanks a lot! Next time Cozy Accommodation only! Best regards, Michail
Nice guesthouse with cosy backyard with tables. Located near Sovereign shopping mall. Approx. 30 min walk (or 5 min drive) from Bob Marley's Museum. The owner is very friendly and gives useful advices about Jamaica (public transport, accomodation and tourist attractions). We were checked-in in a cheaper room than we originally booked (25 vs 40 USD). In this case we had to call Mr. Oliver to avoid any future payment misunderstanding. This garden room was very basic but clean. In total: this place is a good value for money to stay in Kingston.

It is more like a Bed & Breakfast than a Hostel - owner Courtney provided breakfast which was lovely. Could use computer and kitchen - great! I was the only one staying at the time. It is a 10 minute route taxi ride up a winding road in the hills behind Kingston. Road & driving a little scary at first and they cram you into the taxis at times (I guess you could hire them for yourself if you don't want to share)? It has a lovely view to Kingston below, surrounded by forest and fruit trees and there is a little shop across the road. Courtney is also a tour guide, he is very informative, friendly and will take you anywhere. I think his website is Jamaica Tour Guide. His airport transfer is much cheaper than a taxi. He is soon to renovate apartment below, which will give more privacy (the hostel is his family home). Got to meet locals. Want to swim - I paid for one at the Sandhurst Hotel, 15 minute walk from route taxi stop. There is also a pool at YMC in Kingston and at other hotels. It is rustic from the outside but fine inside. Almost a home away from home! It was the best price for accommodation I found in the Caribbean. I should have done & seen more in Jamaica but was trying to get over a cold - so spent a day reading 1 of Courtneys books (about a son of Bob Marley) and 2 other days sight seeing in Kingston (I only had 3 days in Jamaica). Had a nice time, thanks Courtney.
