rlwcordy Roku roku provides a gentle introduction into busy Kyoto. Located in a leafy green area of town, it's some distance from the centre but very close to a number of the temples and gardens. It is well-located for supermarket, boulangerie and other basic services but the restaurants in the area were not very appealing. Note that the bedrooms are located at some distance - about 300m - from the building where the kitchen facilities are located. We did not feel very welcome in this part of the property and the hours we were allowed to use it seemed to be quite limited and needed to be pre-arranged. In other words, if you're looking for a clean and comfortable place to sleep, Roku roku is very pleasant, but if you're planning on cooking for yourself or having some fun talking to other travellers, this is not the place for you. One nice bonus was the free bike hire. There are seven bikes at the property which always seemed to be enough for those wanting to use them each day.
