meag_ko Lovely traditional Japanese accomodation. Owners are very `hands-on` with all guests so if you prefer to be left alone, maybe reconsider. Mr. `Shimaya` offers to drive you all around town to let you see the sights, including the famous snow monkey park. The ryokan is located close to the station and a short walk from town. Facilities are clean and the beds are amazing so don`t be afraid of the tatami mats! There is no common room and the entrance/ lobby are nothing to look at but the rooms are bright and have private balconies. Good place!

amachan123 Yudanaka Seifo-so was the highlight of our trip - I wanted to stay longer, but my family decided we should keep travelling. The hosts were kind and enthusiastic and so proud of their beautiful establishment - with good reason. There are 3 beautiful onsen - my favourite was the 'rotemburo' (outdoor onsen), where we sat while snow brushed our eyelashes. There was a fragrant new wood onsen and another tiled onsen with a glass roof inside. These people went out of their way to look after us and they were darlings. They loved my children and my children will always remember this night. I look forward to staying there again next year. Yudanaka was a beautiful rustic village and as an added bonus, the ryokan was just a couple of minutes walk from the station. If you don't eat dinner at the ryokan, ask them about the great yakitori bar nearby. A five-star rating from us for this special place.

juhapekka. Quite a nice place, excellent value and very helpfull staff. They don't speak much of english, but if you can manage a little japanese, you won't have any problems even if you wish to know something other than related to your stay at the ryokan.
