x The average starting price for a place to stay in Nikko is £34 per night.
Kyogaman Atsu-san is the most hospitable host imaginable and if you are looking for somewhere to stay that combines friendly, quirky and just about every other positive endorsement you can think of then Nikkorisou embodies it. Stay there and smile. I know I did.
laikoon For backpackers, this is the best choice in Nikko! It is extremely accessible to both "Tobu-Nikko" Station" and "JR Nikko" station, just within 3 minutes walk. You can easily unload your heavy backpacks and start your sightseeing in Nikko. Tourist information center, buses, etc. are just located around the Tobu-Nikko station, which resolve all the anxieties that every traveller may have when travelling to a new place. The hosts (Mr and Mrs Sato) are very friendly and approachable. They welcome you warm-heartedly. Unlike some other guesthouses who are just interested in making money, my impression of Nikko Guesthouse Sumica is that they want to make friends and interact with people from all over the world and most importantly, they want their guests to enjoy Nikko. By the way, I am very impressed by the cleanliness of this guesthouse. The hosts even D.I.Y. many small little crafts (literally here and there - e.g. the toilet wall tiles) and make the place feels really "H-O-M-E-L-Y". It was a pity I did not have too much time to really chat with the hosts though. In a nutshell, this is a safe, friendly and clean guesthouse which you could not ask for more, really, for just 3,000 yen a night - it is really value for money, I should say. Check it out yourself.
tilak.chan Very good service. would recommend friends to stay at this lodge if they are planning to visit nikko
kenlai It's a nice little cottage which myself & my wife enjoyed staying in. The staff has been very friendly and helpful. Location wise, it's about 20mins walk from JR station. If you have heavy luggage, I would suggest for a cab or to arrange for the transport from Nikko lodge.
