hherb Excellent location between two subway stations with lots of convenient stores and eateries close by. We got a little lost on the way but our host was kind enough to come and meet us and show us the way (we were off by maybe 100m). The facilities were excellent - both well cleaned and maintained. Our hosts were always happy to point out areas of interest around the hostel - quite a few of which we would have missed without their guidance. A highlight of one of the evenings was when the host organized a sake tasting, which broadened our view and appreciation of sake. We think the best recommendation we can give is by saying that we will definitely stay there again!

blargh Really great and useful place. Lovely common areas which made meeting other people easy. For a quiet night in, the English TV was very welcome and the beer vending machine was a life-saver. In a handy and bustling area, easy walking distance from the main Osaka station, although away from the super trendy downtown part of Osaka.
eidelson If we had known that Yamatoya Honten was this good we wold have booked to stay longer. I nave nothing but good things to say about this ryokan. It is good value, perhaps because the interior is a little run down and they don't feel they can charge as much. Its location is great, just a few minutes walk from a downtown subway station, and close to centre of the city. Service was excellent and the size of the room and ensuite bathroom was good. They do tend to email you a lot to confirm your reservation but otherwise I am glad we booked here.
Mberry Excellent service and facilities. On arrival we were welcomed with a warm cup of tea, whilst our check in was organised. Beds were comfortable (we stayed in the female dorm). Living areas and kitchen were well equipped and both computer and free wifi are available. There were separate bathrooms for males and females and they were very clean. Location wise it was brilliant, the guesthouse was on a residential street, so it was quiet and peaceful at night, whilst there were a number of restaurants and the station only a few minutes away on foot. Getting around was easier than I expected, as Tennoji station nearby allowed us to get around to practically anywhere in Osaka. I'll be happy to stay there again, next time I'm in Osaka.
dreamsicle2glas I love staying at Odori, and the people are wonderful here. Tanaka Ayumi was so nice to me, and she invited me to dinner on the first night. Supposely my last night, she made a takoyaki party for me, and it was delicious takoyaki. Ayumi made nabe, and it was so tasty. Nabe is Japanese hot pot, and she put crab and vegetable in it. The guest house had a mochi event, and it was a great experience learning how to make it from scratch. The tatami style was great, and I love sleeping in the japanese style room. The guest house is so beautiful, and it is very clean. I got unlimited snacks and tea. You should definitely stay at Odori, and you will meet many friends here. Every one is so friendly ^^.
